I've lived in Maryland for 26 years but I do not identify as a "Marylander". I'm a Navy Brat so I am from nowhere.
You and I should form a "from Maryland but not really" club. :P No, but seriously, I kinda know what you mean, having moved here in middle school. Although I have to say I've felt homesick for it, but at the same time, I don't know that I consider myself one properly either. Especially as there's very distinct things about Maryland that I never really grew up with. Ocean City isn't that appealing to me, for instance, because I didn't spend every summer of my childhood there. And I think our part of MD in particular... well, I'm not sure how to put it. It's kind of one of those places where you were either born and raised here, or you weren't. That's not a bad thing or a good thing, it just is. :)
