Free (digital) comic books!!!

[livejournal.com profile] andy_wolverton just alerted me to the Summer Reading comic book giveaway that comiXology is doing RIGHT NOW! No strings attached, just sign up for the website and you can get free comics for 20 days (well, 17, it started a few days ago)!

They also have a regular free comic collection too. I just snagged Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Scott Pilgrim's FCBD story from there.

I've never actually read a comic on my iPad. Most of the single issues I buy for collecting reasons (currently collecting the new Serenity comics, which are fantastic) and otherwise I wait for the trades and check it out from the library. But this is a great way to test run series without filling up my shelves!

I can never say no to free. :)

I love free stuff, especially stuff I want to read!

My Kindle is stuffed with free books.

Ah cool~! I've had a bit of a shaky experience with comiXology in the past (titles I've bought suddenly not being available in my app/account anymore etc. ...), but yeah. Free stuff is always welcome 8D Thanks for sharing!

I love reading comics on my iPad, ComicFlow has given me the best reading experience so far, and I would really recommend it. It supports .cbr, .cbz and .pdf files.

I had soooo many comic apps and I never used them. I don't think I had ComicFlow though. My poor iPad cries itself to sleep every night because all I use it for is playing that silly Star Wars Assault game and checking my email between tv show episodes LOL. But I'm def gonna check it out!

p.s. your icon is so math ;-)

Hold up, there are Serenity comics? Need to tell John ASAP... He and I love Firefly and Serenity. Love your Pinkie Pie icon, by the way. XD

Did you not know about any of the Firefly/Serenity comics?? There's one that happens between the show and the movie, one that is a prequel to the movie, then Book got a mini-series, and there was the Wash one-shot by Patton Oswalt and now the official continuation of the story, picking up a few months after Serenity. They are really good, though only up to issue 4 so no trade yet.

Thank you! Pinkie Pie is def my spirit pony LOL. Bit of a spaz, loves to plan parties (but parties help disguise the control freak tendencies underneath LOL)

This is a pretty sweet deal, since some of the free comics are actually collections and/or graphic novels. But also realize that ComiXology was recently acquired by Amazon, so don't be surprised if shenanigans ensue. ComiXology has a pretty good thing going - I just hope Amazon doesn't mess it up.

OH! THE TRUTH! I wondered how they could afford to give away those trade collections. I wonder if they will let it stay a separate site or slowly assimilate it into the Amazon machine...I guess GoodReads still roams free.
