you know nothing of madness 'til you're climbing her hair!

Well, it looks like the powers that be (**glares at Disney**) did not let Netflix retain the streaming rights to Into the Woods so I can't watch it that way. Thank goodness for YouTube.

Okay, so I actually think Chris Pine could pull that off brilliantly as long as he can carry a tune.

And I have no doubt Anna Kendrick can pull this one off:

My biggest hesitation, as much as I love Meryl Streep, is her as the witch because Bernadette Peters' voice was amazing and unique. Here's her performing one of the songs though out of context so no one gets spoiled for the plot. :)

Ms. Bernadette is the main reason I'm nervous over this. Like, she is SO that role to me, I can't imagine anyone else doing it. Like ever.

Quite different to how I felt about the Sweeney Todd movie, by the way--Helena Bonham Carter was terrific as Mrs. Lovett, even though I loved Angela Lansbury too. But Meryl Streep? I just don't know.

Yeah, plus when the curse is lifted she goes from being witchy to Bernadette and, again, as much as I love Meryl Streep, I just don't see that bit working as well. I dunno. I HAVE A LOT OF FEELS!!!!!!

My attachment to Sweeney Todd was not as high. My parents had the record and I had heard the best bits, but it wasn't as much fun to sing along to when I was a kid. Into the Woods worked because I knew those fairy tales and as I got older, I picked up on all the other messages. Also, how awesome the Baker's wife is. Does Emily Blunt sing???

FEELS INDEED!!!

I'm actually more attached to Sweeney Todd, since I have a Gothic sensibility anyway, and I heard more of the songs growing up somehow. (My children's choir did "Not While I'm Around" and several of my mom's opera friends were always doing some piece or other at solo performances.)

Matter of fact, I took a class in Sondheim as an elective in college, and that was FUN. I got to see so many songs in context that I hadn't been aware of before--I had heard "The Steps of the Palace" once or twice, but never appreciated what had come beforehand.

Bottom line: Please, please, let this be a musical. And please let it not suck. The fact that they got the folks from "Wicked" gives me hope; some of the casting and the absence of any music in the teaser trailer does not.

It will be a musical, of that I have no doubt. I just hope the leads can actually SING to the level I want for such a musical. I don't want any of that talk/singing they do to sneak by in musical episodes of TV shows LOL.

OMG I WANT TO TAKE A SONDHEIM CLASS! I took a Beatles class...talk about easy A LOL. :D

IT WAS AWESOME!! I also took a class in classic sci-fi--that was MY easy A, heh. They weren't offering any on The Beatles, though. College is awesome.
