you know nothing of madness 'til you're climbing her hair!
Well, it looks like the powers that be (**glares at Disney**) did not let Netflix retain the streaming rights to Into the Woods so I can't watch it that way. Thank goodness for YouTube.
Okay, so I actually think Chris Pine could pull that off brilliantly as long as he can carry a tune.
And I have no doubt Anna Kendrick can pull this one off:
My biggest hesitation, as much as I love Meryl Streep, is her as the witch because Bernadette Peters' voice was amazing and unique. Here's her performing one of the songs though out of context so no one gets spoiled for the plot. :)

I'm actually more attached to Sweeney Todd, since I have a Gothic sensibility anyway, and I heard more of the songs growing up somehow. (My children's choir did "Not While I'm Around" and several of my mom's opera friends were always doing some piece or other at solo performances.)
Matter of fact, I took a class in Sondheim as an elective in college, and that was FUN. I got to see so many songs in context that I hadn't been aware of before--I had heard "The Steps of the Palace" once or twice, but never appreciated what had come beforehand.
Bottom line: Please, please, let this be a musical. And please let it not suck. The fact that they got the folks from "Wicked" gives me hope; some of the casting and the absence of any music in the teaser trailer does not.
