haha, no worries. I totally understand. That's why I usually announce when I'm going to friend someone so I'm not just watching...quietly...waiting...

Good plan, except I'm not sure how people will react to a total stranger asking to friend them... (The shyness strikes again! It is like a big, bad monster that can't be banished. *grin* Besides, I have never quite worked out how you "make friends" even in the so-called real life, and I feel I know even less about the etiquette on-line.)

yeah, the whole thing is really odd if you start to think about it too much. :) I only had people I knew in everyday on my friends list until I started making icons and sharing them in communities. Then other people would wander over here and see the rest of my ramblings. Come for the icons, stay for the crazy haha. And now I have 59 friends! (thank goodness not all of post every day or I'd be reading my flist until it was dark outside!)

As far as I know, none of my "real life" friends are on livejournal. I stumbled onto it through reading on-line fanfic and in the beginning I just checked community pages without having an lj of my own. I eventually signed up and joined the communities I was interested in so as to be able to read them in one easy place. Then my natural curiousity took over and I would check out the journals of people posting in the communities and people posting comments and then people posting comments on those journals until I wasn't quite sure how I got to a specific journal. At some point something somebody had posted prompted me to get up the courage to comment and thankfully they didn't feel stalked but responded and after a few comments back and forth even asked about friending me. My life on lj has grown slowly from there.

And now I have 59 friends! (thank goodness not all of post every day or I'd be reading my flist until it was dark outside!)
Well, I don't post very often, so I am 'helpful' in that regard. *grin* Generally, I post a lot more comments to other people's entries than entries of my own.

Oh, yes, that's how it starts. You make a journal just for fun, just to investigate and next you're reading your flist for an hour after work, seeing whats new with your friends and the fandoms. ;) Or maybe that's just me!

well, I'm always happy to make new friends, IRL or online!
