i am groot!

We saw Guardians of the Galaxy this morning and it was fantastic! I just had so much fun. It's exactly what the Marvel Universe needed - a movie that wasn't a sequel or spin-off, just one story, new characters, and lots of humor and heart.

I just have **one** thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars

Did anyone else notice how Gamora started out as a total badass and somehow got downgraded by the end? Like, Zoe Saldana's voice actually changed from being gruff and rough to suddenly weak and...I dunno, softer? This felt kind of cheap, like they felt we wouldn't believe Star-Lord had grown as a character if she didn't soften a little bit? It was odd. It happened at the start of the third act, after he rescued her from death by space. It's the scene where the Ravagers are holding the two of them and Gamora pleads for them to help save the universe. She PLEADS and uses a very weak voice, unlike her tone any other time in the movie.

I will totally add this to the collection once the blu-ray comes out. Rocket and Groot totally stole the show and I was fine with that. Laughed out loud several times. Inhaled my popcorn before it was halfway over.

Also might need to get the soundtrack because it was, in fact, awesome.

I really want to watch this movie, it looks so enjoyable.
I haven't seen any of the other Marvel movies yet (even though I've been meaning to for ages) and I was worried that I needed to in order to really appreciate this film but thankfully you've put my mind at ease.

Earth isn't even part of this movie, except for the first 5 minutes, so our main characters don't even KNOW about the Avengers and their shenanigans. :)

As orangerful said, the human isn't even referred to as being from Earth - he's called a Terran. Whole different part of the universe. There are in-comic crossovers, but they're not a part of the film in the least bit.

I saw it last night and it was great! I was glad that they didn't have Starlord and Gamora become a couple but instead became allies. I didn't notice her voice changing.

I felt the same way about Gamora's 'development'. Also the need for her to change her costume 3, 4 times?

I actually didn't even catch that - I'll have to look for it when we watch it again!

Loved it! A definite Blu-ray purchase.

All the old guys on the soundtrack are gonna love the royalty checks coming in. I'll bet it's been awhile... :)

I very much want the soundtrack but you can only buy the album, not just the single songs and I already own two of the songs! Bummed about that.
