Best Laid Plans and Apologies
So, I think when the great LJ Migration happened a couple years ago after the site when full-Russia, I started unfollowing journals of people that had DW accounts. Problem is, I didn't upgrade my DW account so I wasn't able to get email notifications set up for everyone and didn't realize this until it was much later. Then this weekend when I was doing the Friendzy and looking at my feed, I saw so many entries I had no idea were being posted!! So I went in and signed up for email for EVERYONE and then went back and removed the 20 people I have on DW (DW had a limit unless you pay, and I do want to pay at some point because I love the site...but I think they had a winter sale last year so I'm going to hold out for that).
ANYWAY I feel bad, like I have been ignoring huge groups of you! I'm amazed you kept me on as a friend since my posts were showing up in your feeds and I wasn't saying anything in yours!

I do know the feeling, though. I swear LJ hides posts (almost Facebook style), because sometimes a friend will post, and I'll think "wow, I haven't heard from them in a while", then they'll reference something they seem to think we should know... and I'll realize I've missed their last 20 entries. :/ It's weird. It made sense back when LJ was super active, but there are times a week goes by and it's the same ten posts. So I don't know, but either way, I know the feeling.

Just to make things weirder, sometimes I think LJ sends me emails for posts that I am not a part of the "friends group" for so it says you posted, I click through, and then it says "Post does not exist". I've had it happen enough now that I think it is more a filtering issue than that many people post and delete.

Hmm, odd, yeah it does sound like some sort of filtering issue. Also, both LJ and DW won't post more than a certain number of entries from a certain amount of time ago (at least not in the feed) so that might make a difference. I run into that sometimes when I return from a long vacation here. I also check LJ very rarely now because almost everyone I followed also posts here now or they stopped using LJ some time back anyway. So a lot of posts there might be too old to show up, I'm not current on how they handle the currency of the feed.

Also, I can no longer use the lj client to post on DW so that sucks... I mean, it was easy: open the client using DW's credentials and DW is set to crosspost to LJ so there was no worrying about not updating both places but now... Meh... I actually have to import from lj to DW and most times, I forget so...
I mainly haveLJ people on DW anyway so it's okay. Sometimes i think I should just close DW but I don't wanna.

I got way too many junk emails, and too many email accounts to just go in there to catch up...
I miss the days of the lj client allowing DW settings... it was really much, much, much simpler.

If the comment of a total stranger may be allowed:
No, indeed, LiveJournal did NOT dry up and blow away! Dreamwidth is hanging in there, but nothing more.
But it's easy to think otherwise: I have 100+ mutual LJ friends, and two (2) of them are still active. And LJ communities? It is to laugh.
“rust, dust & silence…”
Yet I'm more there than here, and many people would probably say the same.
p.s. Hi!
Updated to add:
“Meanwhile, Dreamwidth” - may NOT be hanging on! I hadn't checked in a while. Wow.
