So, I think when the great LJ Migration happened a couple years ago after the site when full-Russia, I started unfollowing journals of people that had DW accounts. Problem is, I didn't upgrade my DW account so I wasn't able to get email notifications set up for everyone and didn't realize this until it was much later. Then this weekend when I was doing the Friendzy and looking at my feed, I saw so many entries I had no idea were being posted!! So I went in and signed up for email for EVERYONE and then went back and removed the 20 people I have on DW (DW had a limit unless you pay, and I do want to pay at some point because I love the site...but I think they had a winter sale last year so I'm going to hold out for that).

ANYWAY I feel bad, like I have been ignoring huge groups of you! I'm amazed you kept me on as a friend since my posts were showing up in your feeds and I wasn't saying anything in yours!

Hey, on my end I don't think I even realized you were on DW until maybe two months ago, so if you weren't checking LJ you wouldn't have seen my posts because I didn't friend you. (Grant access? I just refer to it in LJ terms.) So no hard feelings here. :)

I do know the feeling, though. I swear LJ hides posts (almost Facebook style), because sometimes a friend will post, and I'll think "wow, I haven't heard from them in a while", then they'll reference something they seem to think we should know... and I'll realize I've missed their last 20 entries. :/ It's weird. It made sense back when LJ was super active, but there are times a week goes by and it's the same ten posts. So I don't know, but either way, I know the feeling.

They have grant access and subscribe as separate choices so people could decide about giving access to locked entries vs simply getting people's entries on their feeds.

Hmm, odd, yeah it does sound like some sort of filtering issue. Also, both LJ and DW won't post more than a certain number of entries from a certain amount of time ago (at least not in the feed) so that might make a difference. I run into that sometimes when I return from a long vacation here. I also check LJ very rarely now because almost everyone I followed also posts here now or they stopped using LJ some time back anyway. So a lot of posts there might be too old to show up, I'm not current on how they handle the currency of the feed.

Don't feel bad... I just made a post myself about having stopped catching up to my friends on lj. I'm not even gonna try mentioning DW because I barely ever come here honestly. Last I did was to post the bookish icons in the community and that didn't work as I planned it even though I changed the date on it so it's all in reverse now...

Also, I can no longer use the lj client to post on DW so that sucks... I mean, it was easy: open the client using DW's credentials and DW is set to crosspost to LJ so there was no worrying about not updating both places but now... Meh... I actually have to import from lj to DW and most times, I forget so...

I mainly haveLJ people on DW anyway so it's okay. Sometimes i think I should just close DW but I don't wanna.

I totally get it.

I got way too many junk emails, and too many email accounts to just go in there to catch up...

I miss the days of the lj client allowing DW settings... it was really much, much, much simpler.

If the comment of a total stranger may be allowed:

No, indeed, LiveJournal did NOT dry up and blow away!  Dreamwidth is hanging in there, but nothing more.

But it's easy to think otherwise:  I have 100+ mutual LJ friends, and two (2) of them are still active.  And LJ communities?  It is to laugh.

rust, dust & silence…”

Yet I'm more there than here, and many people would probably say the same.

p.s.  Hi!

Updated to add:

Meanwhile, Dreamwidth” - may NOT be hanging on!  I hadn't checked in a while.  Wow.
