steel drums are no more!

So, I got a new phone this week because my parents upgraded their plan. It's actually pretty nice, a Samsung d807 blah blah. But it comes with some of the most HORRIBLE ring tones I've ever heard. So I tried to get [livejournal.com profile] zaubervz to hook me up with some better ones but his program would not let him share ringtones with others. So [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy had to go to the store anyway to get his brother a birthday present, so I asked if we could look for a program that would make mp3s into ringtones. 3 stores later (Target, Wal-Mart, Cingular service store) we finally go to CompUSA and find an inexpensive little program (ToneThis).

I just installed the thing and it worked like a charm. Now instead of these horrible faux steel drums, I have the theme from 'The Office' as my ringtone. Still can't figure out how to make a decent background though. Each time I send an image to my phone it ends up looking icky. So I just cheated and snapped a picture of Veronica from the calendar we have, and that will do for now...

anyone know what resolution it's best to save images at when you're attempting to make a phone background?

You could also have just gone to mobile17 and had it done for free.

When I make my phone backgrounds, I just photograph something cool. I usually pick the highest resolution I've got. No reason not to, right?
