so...yeah
I totally forgot to post something about this - I finally watched the season finale of 'Lost'.
And...so...yeah...
I had honestly forgot about it. I had a ton of stuff on my DVR, I was working through last season of 'House' (which I'm actually really enjoying!). I watched 'Lost' because we were going over to my parents on the 4th of July and I knew my mom wanted to talk about it.
Why does no one on that show answer questions? NO ONE! They all pull the same crap, they sound like parents of unruly children - "Do this because I said so" "because you're not supposed to" "because it's wrong". No actual explanation, just "do it".
No "Don't press that button" just kill the person holding the phone. Yes, that's a good plan.
Also, why does Jack do what he's told? Especially when Ben is telling him what to do? Seriously Jack, grow a pair. The scene when Ben meets up with them on their way to the tower and he's like "come over here Jack", Jack just goes over!!!! Then he's like "Sit down Jack" and what does Jack do? SIT DOWN! Come on Jack. Even if you're too scared to challenge him on the big things, at least show a little backbone over something simple like "Sit down". How badass would it have been to be like "I think I'd rather stand." Just grrrr.
Was anyone else insulted by that horrible line one of the Others said on the beach? After Ben convinced Jack that he has killed the 3 hostages on the beach (which we knew they didn't, it's frakkin Sayid, Jin, and ...the other guy who's name escapes me) because we heard shots fired over the walkie talkie. Then the camera goes to the beach and we see all 3 of them sitting there okay and the Other has to say "Gee, should we have disobeyed Ben and shot the guns into the sand like that?"
Yes, Lost writers, I am SO dumb, I couldn't figure out that they clearly didn't shoot them, and that they are, in fact, not worse shots than Stormtroopers. Just show them being concerned about disobeying Ben and then pan up to the 3 guys sitting there okay. I can figure it out.
Speaking of figuring it out, I totally called the fact that it was Future!Jack. So are we to assume that when the show comes back, they will have been rescued and the rest of the show will be them trying to get back? Because, if so, someone send the writers the DVD of 'Castaway' with a note telling them how unenjoyable the film became once he LEFT THE ISLAND.
Ugh. So, we'll see if I still care when January rolls around. Maybe a new show will distract me (every network should be trying like hell to find some fantastic show to fill that timeslot on Wednesday just to screw ABC.
To sum up: my bitterness towards Lost at this point is only rivaled at my bitterness towards X-Files. Why you wanna break my heart?????

What HAPPENED?!
This is the show that got me into TV, and made me give other shows a chance after so many years of just despising TV, and Season 1 was mindblowingly amazing. Then S2 and S3 were total crap (save for Desmond, he's the only reason I kept watching, to be honest. And his episodes were the only decent ones) I just watched it to watch it. I won't go out of my way to do so for S4, either. And I love how the writers/creators are like "we're going for 2 more (or whatever) seasons and that's it, then the show is done." Like they get to CHOOSE when their show ends, I hope that shit gets canceled before just so they can get caught with their thumbs up their asses. Why drag that crap out and humilate yourself for 2+ more seasons?!
Bah, I guess I'm just bitter because they ruined Season 1 for me :(

The way I understand it, the shows creators had asked to only do a season or so more, and ABC is the one that begged and pleaded for them to do more. So I think it would be funnier if everyone stopped watching, and ABC still had to pay them to make the show even though no one cared.
And the fact that it doesn't come back until January? I think that is a HUGE mistake. Hell, I forgot about it after a couple months. Do they think anyone will care next year? (and I think they are doing a short season too? It's all kinds of messed up).
Yeah, my Wednesday night timeslot is totally open. Bring on some new shows!
