Wow, this is embarrassing. The story here is that I have two adult books I am currently in the middle of. I'm still working on Silence of the Lambs and then a week ago Dead Wake arrived for me so I dropped everything to read that, only to find myself losing interest and going back to Lambs. But not quick enough to finish it before April 30! So my "read" list for April is kind of sad. But at least the two books I did finish were fantastic!

El DeafoEl Deafo by Cece Bell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this graphic novel memoir about Cece Bell's hearing loss as a child. Even if you have perfect hearing, you can relate to Bell's story, her nervousness about trying to fit in, about not wanting people to treat her differently and managing friendships and relationships in middle school. Her art style is wonderful, and it made me feel like I was reading a journal she may have kept as a child.

Quick read and LOTS of fun! Kamala is such a great character, fantastic heroine, a perfect addition to the MARVEL line-up. Cannot wait to read the next collection!

Don't feel bad. I read about 20 books a month... all children's picture books and easy reader books with my 5-year-old son.

LOL yes if I listed all the picture books I read the list would be much more impressive! Especially when I have storytimes every single week for a month. I try to keep it to children's chapter books and up on my GoodReads unless a picture book really stands out to me and I want to have a record of it for later (I just read "Knit Together" which was a beautiful book about a little girl and a mom working together on a craft project)

I actually do keep track of all of the picture books I read to my son, in a spreadsheet that includes my rating and his approximate rating and a couple sentences about it. I really ought to do quick reviews of the best on Goodreads, but I never seem to have time!

I read about 2000 pages a month but it's all fanfic (thus can't really be broken out as 'books'). I used to rec more than I do now -- about the best I manage is to bookmark it as a rec at AO3.

I've heard Ms Marvel is wildly successful which is great news. At least there's progress in female superheroes in print.

Oh, the first one looks like it'll grab me hard at the heartstrings. ;-; I may have to find it next time I take a trip to Barnes and Noble.

Wait--Silence of the Lambs is a book?! OMG.

I have to put Ms. Marvel on hold at the library again. I've only heard good things about the series.

Ms Marvel was fantastic! Not only was she well written, I felt the representation of her family was good too. Hope they can keep it up as the series goes on.

LOL yep, Hannibal Lector originated in books. 'Red Dragon' is the first one and 'Silence of the Lambs' is the second. The movie really followed the book closely, I am really impressed by how faithful they were to the book. And I have also been impressed by all the little winks and nods that the Hannibal TV show gives to the books too. Thomas Harris is a great writer!

El Deafo is fantastic, shouldn't be too hard to find as it is being nominated for all kinds of awards and it totally deserves them all. it will give you warm fuzzies.
