[livejournal.com profile] verdande_mi asked: Do you have an reoccuring dreams?

It's been awhile since I had it, but I used to have a dream where my teeth would fall out. It was never to the point of being a nightmare (even though it sounds like one) but in the dream they would just come out and I would sorta view the whole thing like the guy in 'The Fly' when his parts start to fall off LOL.

If I'm having a rough time, a theme that comes over is still being with my ex or that my ex shows up on my front doorstep and for some reason, in my dream, I feel obligated to let him stay. I find these dreams are usually triggered by general stress.

I still have a few dates left !!! New friends **waves** feel free to ask me anything!

I used to have the teeth dream every once in a while. The stress dreamI used to get when I was first married and I was expecting people for a holiday was I dreamed everyone came days early and I had nothing ready.

I have the "teeth falling out" dream as well. Not in a long while, though. It's interesting that out of everything possible to dream about, that seems one of the more common ones.

It's supposed to be a common stress dream, isn't it? The teeth falling out. I have that occasionally, and it always make my skin crawl to remember it.

New friend here, btw - hello!

I normally don't read comments from others but I peeked. And yeah glad to see that so many others have the teeth thing too.

For awhile when I was 18ish I had dreams I kept driving a tractor trailer off a cliff now explain the meaning of that one ha!

I have the recurring teeth falling out dream, and it's not always a nightmare, but it's always unpleasant.

It's the only truly recurring dream I have, though when the kids were small, I used to dream of losing them in a public place, and from right after my oldest was born to until a couple of years ago I had occasional "I'm pregnant" dreams, which I think was my psyche trying to sort out whether I wanted another kid, and once it became clear, with the last one, that the answer was no, the dreams stopped. I also used to dream of meeting up with my friend, during the 7 years that she and I weren't talking for reasons that were never clear to me, but those dreams stopped, too, as soon as she and I were reconciled.

I have never once dreamed about my teeth falling out, so I'm shocked that it's such a common dream! I wonder if I'll dream about it, now that I know.

The reoccurring dreams I have, which I think are pretty common, are 1) That I leave the house without pants, with some convoluted reasoning that it's no big deal, only to realize once it's too late to turn back that it's a very big deal! 2) someone evil is in my bedroom. The worst case is when he's at the end of my bed, slowly pulling off my covers. Eesh. I usually wake up from that one with my heart racing, and I know sometimes I scream in my sleep. Thankfully I only have that one a couple times a year.

The other weird thing is that when I dream about my youngest brother, he's always around 8-10. He's 41 now.

Those teeth dreams are so scary! I still have no idea why I periodically have that dream. I read somewhere that it's a sign that you feel like you have no control. I'm like, so then we dream that our teeth fall out and we can't fix it?! lol.

Tim just said he never had the teeth dream either. Weird. But I do remember my Mom telling me about that dream so maybe now that we've told you...who knows...

I HATE THOSE "LURKER" DREAMS! I've had ones where I am in a place and just feel "in danger". Hate those dreams because you wake up so flustered and it is hard to go back to bed.

Vincent tends to be a kid still in my dreams, I wonder if it has to do with the amount of memories your brain has to pull from?

It usually feels like no reason, like my mouth is just falling apart, not that I have bad hygiene or that I'm dying...my teeth just start to fall apart. It really is messed up how our brain works things out for us while we are sleeping!

Yeah, I wonder if it has to do with how much older we are than our brothers? My brother was 10 when I left for college, so I probably have way more memories of him up until then. Although I just had a weird realization that I *should* have memories of him in high school because I was back in Maine by then, but I literally can't remember him at all, except from old photos! I must not have visited home very much and/or was just caught up in my own stuff! Wow. Now I feel bad..

I always freaked out about the tooth dream, even in the dream. Maybe because bad teeth are a dealbreaker for me? I have no idea.

The other common one I have is the one where someone comes up to me and says oh, you didn't take this one class, you actually never graduated from high school, you have to go back and do it.

Why can't we ever have NICE reoccuring dreams? Like access to a coffee shop with endless coffee and tasty treats? Or winning the lottery? Or...

Dreams are strange, fascinating and disconcerting things and I wish we had a way to truly understand and analyse them, or perhaps it is better that we don’t!

I used to have a variation on the ex one, where I'd find myself trapped in some situation with either him or his friends, unable to escape. I got rid of it after one time where in the dream I told his friend Gillian to fuck off, and I held on to that and in the end it stopped coming. (That clique is a really long story.)
