I also liked Josie's conversation with Archie. And while the plot twist with Betty channeling Polly was indeed unexpected, I think it just annoyed me. The whole Twin Peaks/Archie crossover idea is fine but the idea that everyone has to be "dark" in order to be taken seriously as a character (or as a show) has gotten cliche. While I thought the central plot with the football players was predictable it was, at least, real and something relatable for a lot of people closer to the age of the characters.

I'd also like to see the Archie/Grundy storyline ended but it looks like her character will be front and center next episode so maybe that will get more interesting. Although I didn't read much of the Archie comics and I gather they've changed, I thought the changes re: Ethel were revealing.

In the original comics "Ethel is usually portrayed as gangly and plain" and tall with buck teeth. She is supposed to be unattractive. However, while now Ethel is portrayed as being taller and larger, she's meant to be overweight. It says a lot about the standards of beauty in our culture that a formerly stick thin woman must now be overweight since it's the other actresses who are abnormally thin.
