I was sort of in a bubble today - I played video games, watched Fraggle Rock, ran errands and did a bit of gardening today with Tim.

Bothered to check Twitter around 11pm as the night was winding down...and what do I see?

Another mass shooting in my country.

Another racist, bigoted crazy person with a gun ending the lives of innocent people.

Remember when these would happen and we would be shocked? Now it just happens every weekend and we forget about it by Monday.

I hate that this is just normal now.

Fuck this, I'm going to bed.

EDIT: Woke up and guess what happened while I was sleeping? ANOTHER MASS SHOOTING! This is America.

I know, I hadn't heard the news last night so I got up to both this morning. Mike and I have been texting one another about the shootings. We're meeting in Dayton on Tuesday for me to bring him home. He said "When I lived there the Oregon district was a hip place for liberal minded alternative type folks to hang out. I went there a few times to a small alternative theater where they showed international cartoon film festivals." In terms of El Paso, I get my prescriptions at WalMart and always try to schedule any visits during the week because the weekends there are always so packed. I'm sure that's the reason the gunman chose yesterday as well. Pretty soon any gathering place is going to be a target when it's busy.

it's just so sad that we, as a country, seem to have decided that this is okay, this is how we will live now. It's too much of a hassle to figure out.

What will the next generation do for fun if they are too afraid to ever leave the house? We complain about people being too involved in online social media etc. but that seems to be the only place one can hang out and not worry about being physically harmed. It's just so sad.

I had heard about the one in TX and told my husband about it yesterday. When I got home today he asked if I had heard about the shooting. I reminded him I was the one who told him about it and he told me there was another one. I couldn't even believe it at first. It is sad how non-shocking this is now, but that did shock me that we had it back to back like this. People should not let McConnell get a moment's rest until he takes up the legislation the House passed. It is beyond ridiculous that they do absolutely nothing time after time.
