there is immense booty here
Apr. 3rd, 2005 07:38 pmThis made me giggle...alot...of course, I was really tired at the time...Theoden's Quest
Now, on to the adventure that was this weekend:
Friday I worked at the Linthicum branch from 1-5. It started off slow, then at 2:30 it just got INSANE! Registering patrons, trying to find science fair projects, figuring out the correct dosage of Omega 3 to take...just total madness. Finally 5 came and I went out the door. I called
jimithingy, who had spent all day helping his brother move. He said there wasn't much left to do and he'd be home soon, so I told him I'd go pick up
zaubervz so he could come with me to Midnight Madness at Toys R Us. Well, unbeknownst to me, there was a MAJOR accident on 295 right next to the exit to my parents house. So I started cruising down 295 and suddenly, dead stop. Right in front of the exit by my high school. So I hopped off and drove around the base, hoping it would be faster than sitting in line. (it always feels a bit faster when you're moving, even if it is a long way around). Anyhoo, I managed to get on 32, which takes me to the road by my parents...but it turns out traffic going down 295 was being diverted to that road. So it was backed up to. So a trip that should have taken me, ooooh, 25 minutes, ended up taking over an hour. So I sat around my parents house a bit hoping it wouldn't be so bad going back. We got back to the apartment around 7:30ish, ate some KFC, watched Family guy then played LotR Trivial Pursuit (the new one I bought with the DVD extra). It was fun. I want to get the star wars version, but it has Ep III spoilers, so I'm gonna hold off until after the movie.
Then, around 11, we started our drive to TRU. That's when it decided to POUR. It was that lovely kind of rain that creates fog and makes your windows impossible to see out of. But we made it to TRU and people were starting to line up right when we got there. Bob from the DCSWCC was there, and he had some checklist fliers, which I helped to hand out and promote the club. Then it was midnight. Everyone dashed inside and pretty much tore apart the display. I went over to the side and grabbed my Galactic Heroes figures and also the spiffy RotS coloring book (and 2 extra for Sky & Snow). Vincent grabbed a 12" clone trooper. Then we pushed our way up to the action figures and tried to grab a few. The selection wasn't as great as I'd hoped, but I did manage to grab a preggers Padme, Shaak Ti, Kit Fisto, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Vader. To find all of these goodies, we spent some time digging through the boxes the TRU employees were dragging from the back. Vincent managed to find a 12" grievous, which was pretty sweet. Everyone was looking out for each other. With my arms full of toys, I made my way to the check out...which was conviently located next to all the Star Wars candy. So I grabbed the Yoda w/ M&M Minis and a Darth and Greivous PEZ dispenser. We made it out of there and arrived back home around 1:30, then played with our toys until 2.
Then I woke up at 8:45, took a shower and dressed up really nice. I dropped Vincent off, but not before we dashed into the Laurel Target and grabbed a couple more figures for a dollar off. Got a Grievous Guard and Grievous with 4 lightsabers. Vincent found his Greivous Unleashed too. Then after I dropped him off, I drove to Al's house to pick up AD's mom, so we could go to a play in D.C. - Shakespeare's "The Tempest". We took the Metro downtown, had lunch at Jaleo (always yummy) and went to the play (it was rainging like mad this whole time too). THe play was FANTASTIC!! The actors were amazing, and they managed to give it relevance to life today without making it feel tacked on (Caliban was played by an Arab-American and several of the other actors were African American). Anyway, had my Shakespeare Gingerbread cookie at intermission, then the play ended at 4:30. I drove back home, arrive around 6:30. Changed into jeans and a t-shirt and AD and I went to the Jem/Gavin DeGraw concert at UMBC. It was an okay show, I was really freakin' tired by this point. Jem seems very nervous on stage, and only really sang when they put her backup vocals on. Gavin was good, he has a really great voice, the ladies do seem to love him...I was hungry though, so we left to get food. TGI Fridays at 11pm. Fajitas. Yum. And 2 glasses of Dr Pepper. We were home around midnight but I was so hyper that I ended up staying up until 1:30 reading email and LJ and chatting with
verdatum.
Today I slept, and opened my figures and took pictures of them for you to see!!!

Looks at little mini-grievous, he's so cute! PEZ Grievous is packed with candy goodness. Had to get the new darth too. (more on the coloring book later)

Kit Fisto and Shaak Ti and my Lightsaber Spoon that I finally got today! (in Honey Smacks? oh well).

Icky Palpatine and Preggers Padme. Plus my galactic heroes Yoda, Palpy, Obi, and Dooku. And candy candy candy....

Preggers Padme up close! She cracks me up. How many pregnant action figures have there ever been?

Inside of the RotS coloring book. Cool, huh? Comes with special crayons and everything. I'm going to enjoy this.

zaubervz's Clone Trooper.

I will call him squishy and he will be my squishy. *pets*
zaubervz's Greivous.

Date: 2005-04-04 06:27 pm (UTC)Sounds similar to the Very Secret Diaries joke about "Shieldmaidens Gone Wild."
You do know about the VSD, don't you? I'd be surprised if you didn't.
