ack, I had a bunch of things I was gonna post about but I've been uber-lazy about typing them up. It's been a pretty good weekend, though I did just agree to a hellishly long Tuesday...but, eh, who cares? This whole week (apart from Thursday) is going to blow anyhow.

Actually, I just agreed to babysit for one of Skylor's friends. She's much older though, so we can actually have conversations about important things, like Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. And I believe she has an older sister, so iit won't be as much work as Sky and Snow. They live off of Rte 2 and 648, which puts them not very far away from us, so it will only take me a little while to get home afterwards.

Saw "Incredibles" on friday which was awesome. I loved it. There's no way little kids get all those jokes! The voices were perfect, and I really liked "Violet". I want to start eating Happy Meals just to see if i can get the toys. Edna Mode stole the show though. Pixar rocks. I'm almost happy they broke away from Disney, because Disney is going down in flames at the moment, and at least Pixar is safe from that. (Did you know Pixar was a Lucas company to start with???).

Worked at The Limited yesterday. It was a steady day. I think everyone is shopping now so they don't have to come back after thanksgiving. I need to change my schedule again, since I'll be done training next week, I want to have more ours available. I want to make sure Andrea only shchedules me on Wednesday and Sundays. Or maybe just sundays. We'll see what i can swing.

And today I have nothing. Peace and quiet. I have 9am library training tomorrow, then I'm gonna probably go and do the rest of my Core Reference worksheets so I can turn them in Tuesday (as they are due...oh, Wednesday I think?). I gotta talk to AD about our travel plans for this week. I have to be at the Mall by 1pm on friday. I want him to just drop me off so I don't have to worry about parking and such, but then he'd have to come pick me up afterwards, but that wouldn't be until 8pm. Ah well, I'll type it here, and then he'll read it and remind me to ask him hehe. Brilliant. (I also agreed to bring food for the potluck, but all I put on the list was "fruit salad" cuz I know you can buy those at grocery stores pre-made, right?)

We watched "Elf" last night with dinner, which was pretty darn cute. I just like Will Ferrell. He makes me giggle pretty much all of the time. I'm not going to put it on the must-see list, but if you happen by it and you're in the mood for a light-hearted holiday flick, go ahead and rent it for an evening. (though I had to laugh as right after I turned it off, I saw "Splash" was on TV, so I flipped over to that channel and it was a lot of the same gags, with the "outsider in NY City". Note: if you look at the movie marquees in the background of "Splash" you not only see "Raiders of the Lost Ark" but a sign for "Evil Dead".)

Now to figure out what I'm going to do with myself today. :-)

the weather today was very non-motivational. Just dreary out. I have gotten nothing done, not that I really had anything to do. Still. I watched disc 1 of FotR with writer commentary (Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Phillipa Bowen). They are a lively bunch, and it sucked away 2 hours...but I really don't want to watch the other half now cuz then I will have spent my entire day watching LotR. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but...

Since I never read the books, I wanted to listen to the commentary to see what they said about parts they changed/cut from the film. Sounds like they made all the right decisions. Everything that made me shy away from the books (the insane amount of names/places/history) was what they knew they had to cut back on. That and what Bowen refered to as the "leisurely pace" of the travels in the beginning. Gandalf leaves for 17 years, comes back, tells Frodo about the ring and what he must do, Frodo ponders that for 6 months then actually starts the journey. Perhaps it's because I was a movie junkie before I was a book junkie, but I like action, and I'm happy that they sped things up and created a bit of tension. It's quite interesting to hear them talk about adapting the story, and how many re-writes it took, and how many of the scenes were sort of inspired by the actors. It's such a grand production, you forget what a small production team they really were when this all started. They were talking about filming pick-up scenes with Ian McKellen at Rivendell and the studio was literally next to Wellington Airport, and they had a lookout who would radio down any time a 747 was coming in for a landing. It's obvious they loved the books, because they do discuss a lot of things they left out or wished they could have put in. But a lot of it would never work on film.
