oh man, two great looking DVD sets on the horizon here -
Jim Henson's Storyteller - the Definitive Collection (yes, I have the regular one already, but this one is DEFINITIVE! Plus, it has the greek myths which I don't have.)
The COMPLETE adventures of Brisco County Jr !!!!! FINALLY! Release date is July 18th, though the price tag is really steep - $100! yowza. Hopefully Amazon.com will have a little sale on that one. Plus, it's the only Brisco DVD I'll ever need to own so I suppose it's money well spent. Not like I have 6 more coming out...

Ooooh, and look, more officially licensed Serenity merch I must have! I still need to spin by Hot Topic and get my t-shirts from [livejournal.com profile] imabandmagnet -- did the River T ever show up??

podcasts

So, I was trying to figure out the deal with podcasts. I've downloaded a few but most of them lose me about 20 minutes in.

I enjoy blogs. Blogs I can skim if they seem long-winded or go off in a tangent I'm not interested in. But podcasts. you can't really skim a podcast. You either have to suffer thru it or turn it off.

So I really don't think podcasts or video blogging will catch on too much (with me) for that very reason.

How many of you listen to podcasts on a regular basis? Which ones?

I tried to do Force.net, Pottercast, and a Firefly one but my short attention span cannot handle it.

I really hoped that maybe I could do my radio show online via podcast but music is a totally different issue. Bugger me, I miss my free forming radio days. I checked out all the podcasting books the library had and its like "yeah dont' use music in your podcast or they will sue you down to your skivvies".

So, pretending I had the time/patience - what kind of podcast do you think I should do?

So this thing has been bubbling in me all day. See, I was babbling about my fandoms, specifically star wars. Going on and on about my lightsaber, random toys, and things like that. Someone asked "so you're still a fan, even though it's all fake?" That made my brain rush for hours with things I wanted to say, trying to figure out how to explain what Star Wars does for me. Because, when it comes to my fandoms, my brain works overtime.

Expandsome of you might have heard this before )

Thinking today, I realized that all of my friends have at least one fandom that they are very very passionate about. I think it's part of what brings us together. We might not get each others fandoms, but we get the passion and the emotion that these fandoms bring forth. And when we do hit upon a shared fandom, oh it is GLORIOUS!

So, do me a favor, if you have the time, comment here or post in your own lj about a fandom and why you love it. Even if it's as intangible as my Star Wars love, I want to hear you gush a little bit. Makes me feel a little less crazy. :)
