are you ready for some football?

Just got back from getting two fillings. The dentist told me she wouldn't bother with anesthetic unless I really wanted it, which made me worry but then it didn't hurt at all! But, either way, after that stress, I went to Target and bought Veronica Mars season 2 and a box of Superman Returns trading cards to reward myself.

Tonight is my "Gamer Gathering" at the library. I'm both excited and nervous. This is my first solo program and I picked one of the hardest demographics to reach. But I'm hoping to get a decent turn out...which also scares me because lots of teens in a room together can get chaotic pretty darn quick. Everyone's watching me too, to see if this program works or not. *crosses fingers*

I need to go pack up the Gamecube so I can take that with me. I wanted to have a second option for the kids (like me) who could care less about Madden 2007. Hopefully, zaubervz will show up with his copy of Super Smash Brothers. Otherwise, it will be Mario Kart Double Dash.

well, that went better than expected!

I had 18 people show up for my "Gamer Gathering" this evening! Which, for a Tuesday night program targeted at teens, I have to say, was more than I exptected. They kids all hung out and chatted and played video games for a good hour and a half with no problems at all. The guy from "Game Crazy" brought over 2 xboxes (he had originally told me he was bringing a 360, but whateva) and had Halo 2 going on one, Madden 2007 on the other. To my surprise, Madden hardly got any love. Halo 2 still rules the roost when it comes to quick games. I also had my Gamecube hooked up with Super Smash Brothers in 4 player mode. That was a hit too. As was the popcorn and doritos (both of which are completely gone now).

I really want to do this program again, I think that the teens woud all come back and probably bring friends. The only thing I'd change would be lack of PS2ness - I had a couple people say they prefer the PS2 and would like to play on that instead. We'll see. I think for my first try, this went really well. It was all about getting the kids to the library, and that worked.

and now I'm going to go pass out because after waking up early for the dentist and stressing about this all day, I'm EXHAUSTED!
