I had my teen program tonight - "Gamer Gathering : Musical Edition". It went very well, we had 14 kids show up! Lots of new faces. And a lot more girls! I think that is because we offered DDR. We also had Guitar Hero set up, and a Wii - because what is a video game party without a Wii??
I'm hoping I can do more of these next year. I'd like to have them every 3 months or so. Make it a regularly scheduled event sort of thing, instead of random dates. The kids love them, and I had one parent thank me before she left, saying that she was so happy we had programs like this so the kids had somewhere to hang out and she didn't have to worry about them. I think it helps our relationship with the teens too. Hopefully they won't be afraid of me as much. They'll probably say "Hey, she was the librarian that sucked so bad at Guitar Hero, perhaps I'll ask her a question about my homework."
YAY! I got a Fedex notice in my email which means my Battlestar Galactica Series 2 MiniMates have shipped! I cannot wait to see how cute they look! I mean, Tigh comes with a flask! How great is that? Definitely need to clear space on my desk to make room for them...
I have now watched 4 episodes of 'Black Books'. Dylan Moran seems to be a cross between John Cusack and Dave Matthews - which means I think he's attractive but at the same time he's a bit twitchy and odd. Plus, he's Irish. So, pretty much I can't look away but something is just not right with that boy. He is hilarious though. The entire cast is. We watched 'The Blackout' tonight, and Manny had had a ton of espresso and coffee and was running around the bookstore and all I could think was "Yeah, that is SO
heiland_coo & I after one iced coffee!"
Mmmmm...iced coffee....I should get up early tomorrow and spin by Dunkin Donuts and get one of those disgustingly delicious drinks. (Seriously, I do not like coffee but something about iced coffee....) Only $1.04!
