orangerful: (mario oh yeah! // orangerful)
So, I've almost beat Bioshock one time through. This is a big deal for me as my lazy butt hardly ever finishes a game. I tend to get distracted and wander off or a new game comes out or I start playing a game that has no end (Sims 3, Rock Band etc).

BUT ANYWAY

Yesterday, I got to the big plot twist. WOW! I should have known something was up because I thought I was at the end of the game but it was all too easy. I FEEL SO USED!

I'm already making a mental list of things I will do the second time I play this game. Yeah, it's that good, I already want to play through again.
- first, I'm HARVESTING ALL THE LITTLE SISTERS!!! I "Rescued" most of them this go around, with the occasional harvesting when I was desperate for Adam (or just pissed off that the Big Daddy beat the crap outta me). Plus, I think I missed a couple in the first few levels. I enjoyed the bonus teddy bears full of Eve and Adam, but next time through, I'm just gonna drain them. I bet it makes the game easier because you can buy more stuff at the Gatherer's Garden.

- Second, I'm taking A LOT MORE PICTURES! I pretty much forgot about the camera after the level where you have to use it to move on. I remembered it a few levels ago but now it's sort of too late. I mean, I'm getting bonuses but those bonuses could be so much more!

- Spend my money. I didn't realize that your wallet had a full limit on it, so I missed lots of chances t stock up on ammo and such. Plus, sometimes games have those hidden items that cost a ton of money, so I thought I was being all clever saving up my cash - the good stuff in this game all costs Adam so no really point in saving $$$.

- use a bit more strategy with my attacks. I mostly used the pistol, but from all the random bonuses I've found, maybe I should have used the wrench more. There are like 3 or 4 tonics that are connected to the wrench as a weapon. If I have more Adam to buy tonic slots (from the first thing on this list) than I can just beat the crap out of those damn splicers. Also, setting more traps with the crossbow. I sort of got the hang of it near the end, but not quite.

- double check the map to make sure I've been EVERYWHERE. I think I did a good job of snooping around, but I never really looked at the map until I was in Fort Frolic, because that level was HUGE and I kept getting lost.

Yeah, this game is awesome. I'm excited about the sequel, though I haven't watched the trailer in case in contains spoilers for the end of this game! There were rumors of a movie in the works, but it appears to have flatlined...not sure if it would work as well as a movie...it wouldn't be too hard transfer to film because the thing is so beautiful, they have the shots ready to go in the game...but I'm not sure if it would be as fun just to watch vs. actually being in control. And with all this "budget" stuff they are citing, I'm already concerned they are focusing too much on the FX and not on the story. You could totally do this ala Jaws and not even SHOW a Big Daddy until half way through the film...but whatev.

Once I beat Bioshock, I think I'll try to wrap up Resistance...or Super Mario Galaxy. I've barely put a dent in Lego Batman...but I'm really close to finding all the goodies in Lego Indy...do you see why I never beat any games???
