It is funny to sit back and look at the evolution of popular television. I remember reading Everything Bad is Good For You and the book discusses how complex television has become over time. I feel like TNG is definitely from that older era, when major story arcs were mostly the realm of soap opera and mainstream TV was still relatively stand alone when it came to episodes. There are little bits of character development, but nothing on the scale of, say, Buffy - which wouldn't premiere for another 10 years.
( next four episodes )
There are 26 episodes in this first season. TWENTY SIX! I'm riding my exercise bike everytime I watch an episode so even if they are painful, at least I'm getting in shape, right? Shed all those summer pounds AND boost my geek cred.
