I was just talking to one of our Pages that is also a crossing card.

To help children cross the street, she had to submit to a background check by the police department.

But to buy a firearm in this country...

hm...

Also things that make you go "UGH" - she was told that if a child falls they are not supposed to help them back up because they are not allowed to touch them for legal reasons.

Just...WTF. This is why our communities are such a mess. We live in a constant state of fear and keep everyone at arms length. If you were parent and your child fell in the street, you would hope a crossing guard would help them up! But we all recoil in fear of legal action.
