tag, I'm it!
Oct. 1st, 2005 03:42 pmHere's what you do:
1) List off at least 10 of the books on your shelf (without looking for more fun).
2) Put the book(s) you are currently reading at the end.
3) Bold 4 or 5 books that you really want the people on your f-list to try to read.
4) Add 3 books you WISH were on your book shelf.
I have several bookshelves so this is kinda tricky hehe:
1. Finding Serenity (Essays on Firefly) edited by Jane Espenson
2. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil - John Berendt
3. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
4. Serenity (novelization) - ??? DeCandido
5. Televised Morality : The case for BUffy the Vampire Slayer...by some guy...
6. Harry Potter (series) by J.K. Rowling
7. Bel Canto by Anne Patchett
8. Sandman : Preludes and Nocturnes by Neil Gaiman
9. Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover
10. Timeline by Michael Crichton
the books that I'm currently reading are not on my shelf, they are on the floor by my bed but I'll start listing them here
Make Love* The Bruce Campbell Way - Bruce Campbell
Everything Bad is Good For You
Down the Rabbit Hole : An Echo Falls Mystery
A Case of Need by Michael Crichton
Will in the World : How Shakespeare became Shakespeare
Books I wish I had: (I cheated and look at my Amazon wish list for this)
Tolkien on Film : Essays on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings
It's Not Easy Being Green : and other things to consider
Ultimate Star Wars Visual Dictionary (it's so pretty!)
I usually just check everything outta the library, which is why so many are on the floor. I only buy stuff I've either read or needs to be part of one of my collections (though I've read all the jossverse books I've bought). I love critical essays on pop-culture books, if you couldn't tell. :-)
EDIT - I thought of of a book I reccomend to my flist while driving in today! One that I bought for my friends after I read it, and now feel the need to read it again, or at least bits of it as it's a book of essays - Partly Cloudy Patriot by Sarah Vowell!!! She roxors my soxors, I just ordered her newest book from the library which reminded me how much I loved her other 3. Plus, bonus points, she was the voice of Violet in Incredibles! How sweet is that?

Date: 2005-10-01 11:11 pm (UTC)I have a soft spot for Michael Crichton's stuff, he's my guilty pleasure read. He's horrible at characterization but he always has such great action/adventure/thriller stuff. Timeline was really good, the movie did not do it justice.

Date: 2005-10-02 12:03 am (UTC)My Daddy enjoys Crichton, and I remember that he said he liked that book, too, and was worried when all the reviews for the film came back so negative. I don't think he actually saw it, though. For a few years, he'd keep bringing up Eaters of the Dead, I believe it to be called. o_O
I need to get a more scholarly icon of Wesley... :D

*scans icons* Damn... no Vikings, overtly scholastic, nor Arabs in my icons...
