Yesterday, I was spoiled yet again. Went to the mall while we were out, because one of the members of the DCSWCC reminded me that the Illyria figure was out and I had seen her before christmas but felt silly buying her. So I ran back into Suncoast to get her. And as a bonus, they had the Buffy Halloween PaLz set for 75% off! So I snagged that too. Because they are so darn cute. (though whoever made the jacket for Xander was a doofus, as I can't get it on him...so he's staying in Army costume for now).

These purchases spawned a re-arranging of my desk. Moved all my Yodas around, bumped the other PalZ set down next to the middle shelf and put Illyria next to Spike...I'll post photos of that later.

Then we went and saw [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy's brother and got our christmas presents (hey, better late than never!). [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy got a cat calendar and 40-year old virgin. I got a new DDR game, plus, addressed to both of us, was a copy of Karaoke Revolution Party for PS2, which part of me really wants to try, and the other part wants to go hide the game. hehe. We have to buy a microphone before we can even try it out though. (though I think the game should come with a case of some sort of alcohol...)

We also found out that there are a few gifts in limbo. Apparently, [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy wishlisted 'Batman Begins: Deluxe Edition' and that turned out to be a Best Buy exclusive. So Amazon ran out of items to fill the order and decided not to send it until it had a copy...along with about 5 other things that he had asked for.

ack, library is closing, must go!

Hey, speaking of PalZ, those XF toys I was describing a while back were actually PalZ, not Legos. I went out and bought two after you asked me about them. Kind of odd marketing- you can either buy them packaged so you can see what you're getting (the only one of those that they had left was Donnie Pfaster, so I bought him. Comes complete with 2 shampoo bottles and a lock of hair!), or you can buy this mystery package where you have no idea what you're getting. They have the odds printed on the back of the package, from 1:8 chance of getting Mulder or Scully to a 1:64 chance of getting some other characters. I got Marita Covarrubias who was a 1:64, leading to the question- am I lucky, or not??

I thought the mystery package idea was somewhat sketchy- I mean, who's gonna buy something when they don't know what they're getting? But hey- I bought one! And if I was still obsessed with XF, I might have gone back to get more. It's kind of fun, sort of like getting a prize in a box of cereal without having to eat the cereal. When the clerk was explaining the mystery thing to me, I said "So there's probably a lot of people trading their duplicates online." And then we just looked at each other and laughed, and I said "Oh right, it's the x-files- I don't think there's a lot of people doing *anything*"

okay, you just made me laugh out loud haha. Poor X-Files...it's funny because it's TRUE!

I have not seen these boxes though! Does it look like it's a relatively new thing? I've noticed a big upswing in the amount of X Files (and Gillian Anderson) icons on comms recently...wonder if TV is so bad now people are just renting the old shows. Mmmmm...maybe I should watch them again...I still have poor season 1, begged for then never even watched...

speaking of, I saw an icon with GA with long blonde (natural color yes?) hair and she looked very pretty. Is she only doing plays now?

I don't know how long the XF PalZ have been out. (BTW, the boxes don't hang, so they are in a different section from the visable characters, which hang on the wall). And I don't know why there would be an upswing of interest in XF- it's too early for it to be a nostalgia thing, isn't it? (the female lead in Bones, who may in fact be Bones, is supposed to be Scully-like, isn't she? Maybe that's driven a new set of people to check out the show?). And I also don't know what GA is up to, but yes, I think it's plays. Golly, I guess I don't know anything! (I do know that GA is a natural blond, so hah!)

hehe, thought maybe, even though you weren't part of that GA group anymore, maybe you still got updates.

Perhaps it is 'Bones'. We watched one episode and they were certainly trying to a very Mulder/Scully dynamic (in fact, I think they even referenced the XF in the pilot...didn't care for the show though...)

Hey- GA on Masterpiece theater! Glad you asked!
http://www.gilliananderson.ws/news/
It's Dickens too! Bleak House though, which I will sheepishly admit I wrote a successful paper on in college without actually having read the book. So I don't know much about it.

I checked out Bones last week and was kind of "eh"

AH HA!

I might have to watch that as the 'why buffy matters' book keeps mentioning dickens and how he's joss' favorite writer, and while I doubt I could actually READ a dickens book for fun, watching GA might get me thru it.

Yeah, we're not CSI people, and Bones seemed like the poor mans CSI. And when there are 20 versions of CSI out there anyway, why make another one, even if it does star David Boreanaz?
