So, I was trying to figure out the deal with podcasts. I've downloaded a few but most of them lose me about 20 minutes in.
I enjoy blogs. Blogs I can skim if they seem long-winded or go off in a tangent I'm not interested in. But podcasts. you can't really skim a podcast. You either have to suffer thru it or turn it off.
So I really don't think podcasts or video blogging will catch on too much (with me) for that very reason.
How many of you listen to podcasts on a regular basis? Which ones?
I tried to do Force.net, Pottercast, and a Firefly one but my short attention span cannot handle it.
I really hoped that maybe I could do my radio show online via podcast but music is a totally different issue. Bugger me, I miss my free forming radio days. I checked out all the podcasting books the library had and its like "yeah dont' use music in your podcast or they will sue you down to your skivvies".
So, pretending I had the time/patience - what kind of podcast do you think I should do?

Date: 2006-03-28 03:11 am (UTC)Apparently the Lost creators do a weekly podcast, and that would be cool if it was Joss, but it's not, so blah to them. Also, I hate phone posts.
The End.

Date: 2006-03-28 08:01 am (UTC)plus, short podcasts kick ass for the attention span lacking...i enjoy them cause i can fit them in real fast while i eat breakfast
my podcast list:
American Public Media's Marketplace (NPR show) takeout (a podcasted "best of" for the week") 15-20 minutes
Diggnation - weekly podcast featuring the top news of the week on digg.com...usually 40 min or so...one of my longer ones
NPR hourly news summary - something i usually get in my car, but at school i dont drive much, so it's a quick 5 minutes of news updated hourly i can check out in the morning
MacBreak - video podcast...usually about 20 minutes, doesn't update too often, but it's very well done (techie inclined)
The World: Global hit - the PRI show "The World"'s last 5-10 minute segment featuring a musician from around the world...it's not the whole show...but just the last part...which is nice
TwiT - This week in tech - another tech news podcast...updated fairly often, and a bit long...ill listen to it if i got the time, but sometimes i skip a few and/or let them build up
WAMU'S tech tuesday - 50 minutes - podcast of one of the programs i enjoy at home that i can catch in connecticut!
i'd realllly love a podcast of NPR's "This American Life" but...darn them...they have this agreement with audible.com...you can listen to the shows free online in Real Media...or buy them with this subscription thing with audible.com...but can't get a free podcast....boooooo it's my favorite show =/
well there ya go!
