snagged from...well a couple different people have done this and I thought, hey, why not!

How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you SHOULD know? How many times have you felt 'guilty' asking aclose LJ friend a question that should be 'obvious'? Well, here's your chance. If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me anything. Even something EXTREMELY basic, like where Ilive! I'm not allowed to get even slightly irritated at any of thequestions – we've all missed things before. In turn, though, you must re-post this in your own journal.

... I have to ask. Why did you assassinate the Arch-Duke Franz Ferdinand?! I know, I know... it wasn't the REAL source of WW 1 but still... For shame, Sam, for shame.

Um, but seriously... (for lack of a better one) how did you get started in the Star Wars fandom? Not just when you started liking it but how you became a professional fan , so to speak. a Fan as opposed to just a fan. if you know what I mean.

Look, Ferdinand and Montezuma were plotting against me! I had to strike first! Plus, that damn 'take me out' song was stuck in my head for MONTH straight!

Good question. My star wars fandom has been a constant in my life, but I never got to be quite as hardcore until the prequels. I mean, I always loved star wars. I have a notebook from 7th grade that I covered in the "Cast List" and drew X-Wings all over. I used to listen to the radio dramas on the bus, my headphones in my ears and my head down on my backpack. So it's always been there for me, like a snuggly blanket or favorite teddy bear, always there to make me smile, make me happy.

When the prequels came out and I got to show off my mad skillz, that's when it started to more Fan like. Camping out for the prequels gave me an opportunity to see more people like me, which made me feel more comfortable letting my love of Star Wars show. I'd have to say 'Attack of the Clones' is the one that probably got it all rolling. Camping out for that movie, finding the Force.net club, going to Celebration II with Adrian. And then last year I stumbled upon the DCSWCC, a very organized group of devoted fans that are really cool people too.

It helps to have people around that you can talk to about the fandom. Livejournal has also encouraged me, since I found a few star wars buddies on here. :) And growing up helped too. When I was in high school, I think I tend to hold back my love of things because I wanted to "fit in" or have someone like me. Then I realized that if I couldn't do the things I loved, then what fun was hanging out with people who had nothing in common with you? So I pretty much went all out geek after that haha.

does that completely answer your question? ;)
