We ran out today and snatched up the new DS Lite. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy found a coupon online last night from Best Buy that got us a free copy of 'Brain Age' so we went to Best Buy. Also picked up the 'New Super Mario Bros.' game, Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends, and Kirby's Canvas Curse.

now I'm just waiting.....it takes 3 hours for the DS to charge....it's so tiny and cute...*stares*.....is it 5:30 yet???? huh huh huh?

Yesterday was crazy and fun. I had to go in to work from 9-12 to train our Volunteens. I had been nervous about this whole thing, I mean who in their right mind puts me in charge of anyone, let alone allowing me to train them! But these kids were awesome! I'm so happy with how it went. They are all so friendly! And funny. So that made me feel really good that I picked the right kids.

After that I dashed home and changed into a star wars t-shirt so we could go to the DCSWCC Summer Social. [livejournal.com profile] verdatum came along with us. The social started at 12, but we didn't leave until 12:45. We were making really great time until we were on this tiny back road in Darnestown (near Shucksville and Oogly-Moogly-ville) and we were stuck behind a TRACTOR! A tractor so large that it was pretty much impossible to see around and therefore impossible to pass. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy might have tried to pass it if he'd been behind it, but we had a minivan in front of us and he wasn't going for it. So we spent at least 15 minutes yelling at this guy hhaha. But we arrived in time to eat some hamburgers and get in on the Sarlaac Swap and raffle. I got a sandtrooper and 3 of the "titanium" figures (which are made my Mirco Machines which I LOVE. They were one of the first toys I collected, micro machines, so to get these in my bag made me very happy). In the raffle I won a one of the new "vintage" Luke Skywalkers, which is cool because I've refused to buy one (they are $10 for a basic figure, twice as much as a "normal" figure costs) but to get one for free was pretty great.

Galen, the resident Lego maniac, gave us a tour of his recent creations. I wish I had that kind of patience and talent, he had some really cool stuff. Padme's balcony, his own Sandcrawler (that he made before Lego put their own version out), the Star Tours ship, Palpatine's office during the Palpatine vs Mace vs Anakin moment. He also had one of the display cases from Toys R Us which he had set up an Order 66 set - each jedi we saw in the movie had his own little set up. It was really cool!

EDIT: StarWarsDaddy posted the group photo - ala Where's Waldo, can you Spot Sammy?

The weather was perfect too. Just lovely. I felt like such a dork though, I got home and all the sunshine and fresh air had zapped me of my powers. I was ready to go to bed and it was only 7pm! haha. But instead, we watched 'The Producers' which was pretty good. Not as good as the original movie, but as far as adapting a broadway play ot screen, it was a lot of fun to watch. Lots of outtakes too. haha.

*stares at clock* why has it only been 15 minutes? It needs to be 5:30! I want to play Mario and then make a puppy and possibly paint a rainbow with Kirby!!!
