How many of you save your ticket stubs, for either movies or concerts?

I have a little baggie on my desk that I put them in. I was just re-arranging so I started to pick thru them to see what I could find. It's funny, because they are little bits of my history. I have memories attached to a lot of these movies, the theaters, etc.

So, let's take a little trip down memory lane, shall we?

ooh, lots of tickets from Snowden Square. They were one of the first big theaters in our area to get the "stadium seating" and good surround sound. Which I'm sure made a big difference in my viewing experience of 'The Perfect Storm' (the 3:50pm showing on 8/11/00) and for the first X-Men movie (11am on 7/14/00) but probably not so much for 'Meet the Parents' (10/21/00). I remember that movie, my friend didn't like it at all, and ranted at me the whole way home. I enjoyed it for the most part. It was funny, but painful. Oh, and here's the ticket for 'Sleepy Hollow', one of the first movies that I left the theater actually ANGERED by how bad it was.

Let's see what else.....Weird Al at the Warner Theater in DC. Probably one of the best concerts ever. Al is the man.

'Dumb & Dumber' - when Jim Carrey was still cool, and my mom laughed at all the best spots (she about died when they starting singing 'Mockingbird', and since she was the only one old enough in the theater to actually know the song, she laughed the loudest)

'Power Rangers' - [livejournal.com profile] zaubervz dragged me to see this one, it was amusing in the giant-fake-rubber-monster kind of way.

I think I just found my original 'Nightmare before Christmas' stub (it's faded and just says "XMAS" on it). How funny since I just added the 3D one to my collection.

aaah, 'Jurassic Park'. I saw that movie A LOT. I remember I freaked out because it was PG-13 and we were 12 and I was scared they would card us and not let us in! Oh, I was silly. And then I dragged everyone I saw that summer back to the theater to see it again. There's nothing like hearing the T-Rex stomp around in surround sound dolby yadda yadda speakers.

All the new Disney movies are in here - Beauty and the Beast, Alladin, Lion King, Toy Story...I remember "taking" my grandparents to go see 'Beauty and the Beast' and right at the end, the kid behind us was like "is he gonna die?" and the kid with him was like "no of course not!" and i was upset because they had spoiled the ending for my grandparents.

And all the random tickets from the performance class I took at UMBC - one semester of plays and another semester of "other types" of performance. So I have tickets from Center State, Axis Theatre, WWF Smackdown, & Baltimore Opera Company's performance of Aida. (sadly, I'll admit, I enjoyed the Smackdown more than Opera).

haha! here's 'Blair Witch Project' which we saw in the SKETCHIEST theater in Baltimore before it got popular. And [livejournal.com profile] verdatum found out our teacher didn't know it was all fake. She was hoping to turn it into a maryland history project. *headdesk*

'Shakespeare in Love' which I also saw many times, and the asshat I was dating at the time told me it was 'soft core porn' and I remember being totally traumatized. I got over it though, still one of my favorite films.

heehee, X Files: The Movie - the first ticket I ever pre-ordered. Ah, young love.

OMG, the rip off things from Taco Bell cups from when Batman Forever came out. I must have been trying to collect them all!

Okay, I'm sure I've bored you enough with all that. :)

Hmm.. I dug out my tickets and I had fewer than I thought. I must have other (possibly embarrassing) stuff stashed somewhere, but for what it's worth..

Music: Howie Day(7), Belle and Sebastian(6) (more Howie than B&S? WTF! This is all your fault..), REM(4, but I know I've got some older ones somewhere), Dandy Warhols(2), Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Matt Nathanson

I forgot I liked Folk/Country: Patty Griffin(2), Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris & Friends

Movies: HP Opening nights(2), XF(5) Ah, memories..

Plays: 2, but there should be like 6 more just from this year!

Comics: Jon Stewart, Eddie Izzard

Atheists: Richard Dawkins "The God Delusion", Julia Sweeney "Letting Go of God"

Misc: Free Pops Concert during 2004 Dem Convention, Noam Chomsky :-P

Gah- B&S needs to tour again and soon so I can put that whole Howie thing to rest!

Yeah, I save them too... but not in any kind of organized way... they just end up all over, in jacket pockets, in the bottom of my purse, and in various places when I clean out my pockets or purse and set them down somewhere, in books as bookmarks. *sigh* I've got my ticket from the Caps game in the book I'm reading right now, but other than that, it's like a squirrel burying nuts, they're random finds when I clean. =P

yeah, but I'm sure if you figure out how often B&S tours vs. how often Howie was touring, you'll find that you've probably seen B&S more, percentage wise.

I totally made that up.

You saw the X Files movie 5 times??? I think I saw 'Jurassic Park' the most in the theater.

yeah I noticed a few in the baggie that were obviously washed haha. I have a couple from the theater that used to be by the Laurel mall, in the what is not Best Buy shopping area. Those faded a lot!!! Some of them I can barely read.
