So, I did manage to *ahem* acquire season 3 of 'Battlestar Galactica' and we've been watching it on a pretty regular basis. So I thought I'd post my thoughts so far:
We've watched 9 episodes so far - the last one was 'Unfinished Business', where everyone hops into the boxing ring and dukes it out and we finally get some of the story of what happened on New Caprica to make tensions run so high now. I really liked this episode, though I knew Starbuck would be the one to break Lee's heart. The look on his face when his father tells him she got married - fantastic acting by Jamie Barber. You could see his heart breaking in two, you could see him wanting to cry, throw up, hit something - it was all there.
I'm sure this season might be more frustrating to watch if I did have to wait a week between shows. The episode before this ("Hero") with the random pilot and Adama thinking it was his fault the Cylons attacked - that one was pretty weak. Sorta cheesy.
'A Measure of Salvation' was also well done. I'll be honest, when we first met Helo, I wasn't sure if I liked him. But he has really grown as a character and this episode really let us see that he's secure about his life and his work. Takes a lot of guts to tell off both Adama and Rosslyn!
'Torn' was Gaius' episode. His predicament is fascinating especially since it seems Caprica Six is just not that into him anymore. And his little imaginary Six still comes to his rescue. It was foolish of him not to tell the Cylons about the probe ("Vyger?") but I'm very interested to see how his relationship with that set of Cylons evolves. Also, did the chick in the tub remind anyone else of 'Minority Report'?
Starbuck is still my favorite character, perhaps because she is messed up beyond belief. The whole thing with her and little Kasey, that was heartbreaking. I don't really think Starbuck wants to be a mom, but she wants to be someone worth looking up to; she's better off being the really cool aunt. But she has so many insecurities and emotional issues. And her and Lee? It was clear that he was loaded at the time and she was relatively sober. But I think Lee would have followed thru, which is what obviously scared her to death. She probably convinced herself she was doing the right thing, forcing him to stay with Dualla (who is clearly in love with his father...but even she knows that would be ew).
So, I agree, this season has been dark, but I like it! And I'm sure it will get darker (from what I've heard, like s4 Angel dark) but I'm still enjoying the show.

It's kind of fun reading your reactions to these eps, because it brings me right back to where I was when I was watching them. In case you're wondering, you're pretty much in line with the general fandom on everything so far with opinions :P
