whats up with that?
Aug. 14th, 2007 11:33 pmWell, I have my 2 letters of recommendation and my work experience form ready to go into the mail tomorrow to Drexel, and then my application is complete! Eep! Then I get to sit here and wait and see if they will take all my money.
My desk was not as buried as I thought it would be today. Just a few envelopes and books that Pages had questions about.
Oh - whats is up with this: In the books (and on IMDB) the name of the main lady in 'Golden Compass' is spelled "Coulter". Yet, on the back of the book on CD I am currently listening to, it's spelled "Kulter".
I am really enjoyed 'Golden Compass'. Just started part II in the car today. I'm so tempted to just run out and buy the books and read them like I read 'Deathly Hallows'. I should be meeting the bear character soon - John Faa was just talking to the witch guy about him.
Oh, I finished '$64 Tomato' while I was in Maine. Really cute book. You don't have to be a gardener to enjoy it, because I'm definitely not one and I was giggling the whole way through. Very quick read and fun.
Now, what to read next...I'm still supposed to be doing non-fiction books, relatively new ones. But I have this whole stack of young adult ones I checked out. AND I just got 'Go Ask Malice', a Buffy book (well, actually it's a Faith book) that they shipped in special for me from Orange County! Crazy huh? I'm not allowed to renew it, so I should probably read that really quick.
I'm sort of all over tonight, aren't I? Hopefully I'll be a bit more coherent tomorrow...but no promises.

Date: 2007-08-16 01:00 am (UTC)I just sat here and listed to a whole disc for an hour. I want to finish the first book, because it's so good, but I need to slow down because all the copies of the second one are checked out right now! I'm not sure if I would enjoy actually reading it as much as I'm enjoying this full cast production though...

Date: 2007-08-16 02:59 am (UTC)The second book drew me right in, in a way that the first one didn't. So I'd say it's a better read and you'd be fine reading it. But if the CDs are good, I'm sure it would be a good listen too. Of course, you could always buy the book- do they still sell them with the covers I have? I definitely prefer those over the other covers I've seen.
BTW, I got your flickr message and added you as a contact, and your trip pics post still doesn't appear on my friends page! Maybe it's because we added each other too long after you posted that entry? But whether we're flickr contacts shouldn't make a difference for a lj post.. should it??

Date: 2007-08-16 03:38 am (UTC)Yeah, the first book took a while to get started, so listening to it really helped. I have a feeling this might be a set of books where I will listen to them all, then go buy the whole set so I can read them later.
I'm not in love with the bear, but I don't dislike him. He is sort of a party pooper, but right now, mixed with Lyra's kid attitude, he's working for me. *shrug* Just don't make me type his proper name.
