Yes, I like a show about a serial killer.
Dec. 22nd, 2007 07:21 pmI just did a little 'Dexter' marathon yesterday and today, finishing off Season 2. I liked this season. Not as good as season one, but still enjoyable. There were a couple episodes that were "treading water", not really moving the plot forward as quickly as it could have been.
Doakes was in a cage a bit too long, Rita's mother was around WAY too long. And there were not enough serial killings due to the investigation. But oh well.
And I HATED Lila. I'm sorry Jaime Murray, but I do not like your face. I was pretty sure we were supposed to dislike her but still. I'm so happy Dexter killed her because I really did not want her to show up again ever.
I'm upset about Doakes. Sure he was an ass but his constant stalking of Dexter made for a bit of cat & mouse. I'm wondering if Laguerta will take over that roll next season. It would work because she wouldn't know she was investigating Dexter but he would still have to be on his toes.
Jennifer Carpenter has a unique face. She's not super pretty but she has lots of cute little expressions then at the same time she can be sorta weird looking. I dunno, I really like her in 'Dexter' as Deb but I can't imagine watching her in anything else. Deb is such a great character though, messed up on so many levels.
I am very curious to see where they take the show in 2008. I hope the rumored move to basic cable is just a rumor because I can't see this show ever being a mainstream hit. And I can't see Dexter's story being told on a channel where showing blood and swearing is not allowed. I mean, the cops gotta drop f-bombs and Dexter has to cut people into pieces. If you put it on regular TV...its not gonna work.
Ah well, still a quality show! Here's hoping Dexter s3 will be as much fun to watch!

Date: 2007-12-23 02:34 am (UTC)My only problem is how many punches they pull with Dexter's character. He's a serial killer. Regardless of his choice of victims, this is no vigilante Messiah with a set of butcher of knives. This is a seriously disturbed killer with the potential for violence to escalate. He is not a saint or a good man. He is not doing good things. What he is, however, is fascinating, through virtue of his code and choice of victims. Almost identifiable, yet still horrifying. I wish the writers would stop trying to make him so fuzzy and tame and sweet-natured.
I need me a Dexter icon!
