welcome to rapture
Jan. 14th, 2008 12:10 amI just spent about 4 hours playing 'Bioshock'.
WOW! This game starts and does not stop. It is intense, but the story is so good that you want to keep going, keep finding the little diary recordings lying around so you can listen to this utopia fall apart.
This game is really smart. It's not just a shoot em up (though those are fun too!). You get to shoot things AND zap them with electricity AND set them on fire AND use telekinesis to throw objects. You use "Adam" and "Eve" to recharge your plasmid powers. There are these creepy ass little girls wandering around with glowy eyes. They are protected by Big Daddies (the big monster on the box cover). If you can destroy the Big Daddies, you can either "rescue" the little girls, freeing them from their glowy eye'd syndrome and letting them roam free while getting a little bit of Adam, OR you can "harvest" them, sucking out every last drop of Adam they have and reducing them to nothing. bwhahahhaha. Your little helper friend Atlas tells you to kill them for their own good, but there's some crazy German doctor running around that says I should not kill them and she will make it worth my while.
The sound on the game is good, you can hear the crazy people mumbling to themselves (Splicers are the citizens of Rapture, they have overdosed on the "Eve" and "Adam" to the point of insanity). But it's like Silent Hill - yeah I'm scared and freaked out, but the story is so clever and layered, I can't stop playing! And you can save whenever you want to, so that is nice. Oooh yes, this game is going to take up some time.
I wish the snow/ice storm would actually happen. I would love to have some days off to just play this game.
