pictures in my head (movie edition)

Driving home from Raleigh, I was mixing it up on the iPod for us and I realized there were several songs in my mix that are so attached to images that I can't even hear them without seeing the moments in my head. Here are a few of the ones I remember:

Jump (For My Love) - The Pointer Sisters & Hugh Grant dancing in Love Actually (blah, embedding was disabled, click for the classic)
Hugh Grant had fallen of my personal radar when this movie came out but after seeing this sequence, I remembered why he was such an idol for awhile there. He knows how to have fun and clearly has no problem with being a little goofy. Yeah, I'd heard this song before but seeing the Prime Minister dance around after a rough day turned it into more than an 80s love song.

Tiny Dancer - Elton John & the band singing on the bus in Almost Famous
I doubt I had heard this song prior to seeing this movie. This moment on the bus is just so great because I love having big car sing-a-longs anyway, so it hit home for me.

Twist & Shout - The Beatles & Matthew Broderick lip syncing on top of a parade float in Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Probably a generational thing, but this was probably the first Beatles song I ever heard, though I didn't KNOW it was the Fab Four at the time (I think I was still listening to my mom's Monkees tapes).

In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel & Lloyd Dobbler standing outside with his boombox in Say Anything
One of the most iconic images from 1980s movies...and it appears that FOX has gone around and had it removed from the Internetz. Seriously? Ah well, John Cusack + Boombox = many teen girl fantasies (Cullen boy ain't go nothin' on him).

Brass In Pocket - The Pretenders & Bill Murray and Scarlet Johanssen (w/ hot pink wig) singing karaoke in Japan in Lost in Translation
This song never really did much for me, but after seeing it in this movie, with the weird tension between Bill Murray's character and Scarlet...it turned into something completely different. When I sing this song on Rock Band, I totally do all of Scarlet's moves.
(aaaand NBC/Universal have yanked the video. Too sad. Well, it's a good movie, go rent it!)

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen & Wayne, Garth, and the boys all jamming out in their car in Wayne's World
I defy you to listen to this song and not start head-banging right along with Wayne and Garth. This movie brought this song to the next generation (I know I had never heard it until this movie) but now it is in regular rotation on my iPod. But any time I hear it, I see Wayne's smiling face...

EDIT: Twitterer @ComputerGoddess pointed out we were missing some Old Time Rock & Roll with Tom Cruise (before he was acting really crazy) dancing around in his undies!

I love that scene in Love Actually! I adore that whole movie, but that part is always at the top. (Especially with housekeeping lady catching him at the end.)

That's my favorite part of Love Actually. ^_^! This is a great post idea... I can't think of anything to add right now, but it's definitely something fun to think about.

Aww, good selections! Although I have to say, Lloyd Dobbler would have to hold the #1 spot, on this list, or, well, probably any list that he might be a part of. ;) Really, a person could just make a list of top Cameron Crowe song-image connections.

And ack! I didn't know that "More Than Us" was available on Rock Band! I must have it!!!

Now I must ponder these on my own.. I feel like I have a ton of them, and yet I'm completely blanking all of a sudden. *bonk*
