I watched Let Me In last night. Very conflicted about how I feel about it. And for some reason, Posterous won't cooperate and let me cross-post my review, so you'll have to go over to Read.Watch.Blog. to read it.

Watched Game of Thrones today, the third episode, which is keeping things moving. If they are consistently this engaging for the rest of the season, this will be an awesome show. I'm slowly learning names, though I might need to go and read them off of IMDB because I feel like seeing the spelling of them might help. I just love how the little plot elements are trickling in...like how this episode gave us more of the real meaning behind the phrase "Winter is Coming". I love the little tomboy girl, but I think you pretty much have to. She is my favorite character so far, along with the Stark's bastard (see what I mean about names!!! This is how it was for me after watching 'Fellowship' the first time!)

I did put the audiobook on hold at the library because I find I tend to be better at watching/listening to fantasy than reading. *shrug* Plus, the books are HUGE and I don't know when I'd find to read them with everything else. But maybe if I start listening to them while I'm playing video games or making icons or something, I will get through them.

Also, I'm in love with the opening credits - the music, the animation...it's hard NOT to get excited about watching this show when the first thing you see is this:

Also, I'm starting to understand the appeal of tumblr, if it is only for instant access to pictures/gifs/manips/memes on demand. Mostly everyone I'm following on there now is Doctor Who nut and it has just been hilarious flipping through all The Silence jokes this week. DAMMIT STEVE! LOLOLOLOL!!!!

Yes, if I'm this easiliy amused, it probably means it's bedtime. :P

Arya (the tomboy) is hands down one of my fave characters in the entire series, and Maisie Williams, who plays her, is just amazing. She's very much like the Arya in my head. Without giving anything away, keep your eye on Arya -- she's going to do amazing things.

I can only imagine how confusing the show must be without knowing who is who in advance. One of my minor quibbles about the tv show is that they don't introduce characters well sometimes, even when you've read all the books. Like the older knight who King Robert talks to about first kills before Jaime comes into the room -- that's Ser Barristan Selmy aka Barristan the Bold and he's kind of important, but I don't even think he got called by name once.

Btw, just so you know Eddard/Ned Stark = Sean Bean. Catelyn aka Cat is his wife. Their kids are Robb (eldest with the beard), Sansa (the tall pretty redhead now in King's Landing betrothed to the blonde prince), Arya (the tomboy), Bran (the one who fell off the tower) and Rickon (who has been mentioned but I think has only been shown ONCE). Then there's Jon Snow, Ned's bastard son who went to the Wall with his uncle Benjen (tall beardy guy)

Robert Baratheon is the fat drunk king. Cersei (formerly Lannister) is his wife and Queen. Jaime Lannister is her twin brother. Tyrion Lannister aka the Imp is their younger brother. Lord Tywin who hasn't shown up yet is their father. We just met Renly, Robert's youngest brother, at the council meeting (short cropped black hair, beard, goodlooking) Robert & Cersei's three children are Joffrey (the blonde bastard who fought with Arya and is betrothed to Sansa), Myrcella (who is the little blonde girl who was talking to Tyrion last week) and Tommen (little blonde boy who was also at the breakfast table with them and was tickled by Tyrion iirc)

Viserys is the crazy prince with the white hair on the other side of the Narrow Sea. Danaerys aka Dany is his younger sister. She is married to Khal Drogo. Ser Jorah Moremont is the exiled knight that's with them. (His father, Jeor, is the head of the Night's Watch at the Wall.)

Those are the most important people to watch at the moment. :)

I loveeeeee the opening themes so much! Every week has always been very fun to watch, but I love this week's theme in particular because of the King's Landing! Oh SO good.

And I'm back reading the book, maybe we can squee about it when your audiobooks come through?

Arya is amazing, in the books. I can't believe that the children in the books are really young yet they do so great things. (And stupid, of course.)

Maybe I'll give Let Me In a go then! I felt basically the same way about the original.

I re-watched "Day of the Moon" today, and as soon as Steve started yapping I was like "UGH THERE GOES STEVE." ^_^

Arya is one of my top five characters. From what [livejournal.com profile] grrm says now, he kind of regrets making them quite as young as he did when he started the book, but they're stuck now. LOL But yes, they do great (and not so great) things. :)

I read the first book and thought it was great, then tried listening to the second book on audio. BIG MISTAKE, at least for me. The reader is British and reads with a thick, pretentious old-school British accent. Tried it twice - couldn't stand it. I'll stick to the books (but ONLY when GRRM finishes them ALL!).
