I'm still here!

Wow, feels like ages since I've been on LJ, but I guess it was just a weekend. A long and crazy weekend haha.

-- I saw Super 8. Liked it well enough though after the initial shine wore off, we poked so many plot holes into that movie it became less enjoyable and more about wanting to see the special features to see J.J. explain his way out of this one. I'll post more extensive thoughts later.

-- I finished up Game of Thrones and freaking LOVED IT!!!!! Seriously, cannot say enough good things about this show and it's awesomeness. I'm really really REALLY hoping the book on CD shows up at the library before I drive to Maine, would be the perfect thing for the car. I want to write a more in-depth post at some point...I'll get around to it.

-- We saw the Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions on the big screen (over the course of three weeks, dear god we're not THAT crazy!). It was so much fun seeing those movies again in a theater. They are made for those screens. I was upset by the chlid that pointed out to me that he wasn't BORN when the first movie came out. Now I know how the guys at the DCSWCC feel when I say I wasn't born when Star Wars came out. (the kid was adorable though, had on his little hobbit cape!!!) I have to say, the film has withstood the test of time so far. I find that the mix of pratical special effects with the computer-generated works really well. I'm wondering if the Star Wars prequels will look half as good as LotR since they are almost ALL CGI. Probably feel like I'm watching a cartoon. LotR blu-rays arrived on Tuesday, but I don't think I'm going to watch them right now. :)

-- Speaking of random purchases (hey, I had THREE Amazon gift cards to use), I finally got Alpocalypse, the latest Weird Al Yankovic album. So far, I have to say, I like it, even if I don't know half the songs he's mocking. Ringtone might be my favorite so far...

-- I FINALLY completed DragonAge II!!!!!!!!!!!! That was my goal last weekend and I achieved it! Yes, my weekend goals are VERY strenuous, as you can tell. I should do a post for this too...so I can post all the [spoilers] that [spoilers].

-- Finished up Buffy Season 6 last night with maybedeadcat (it's his first time through the series). I'm a little scared though -- Season 7 is the ONLY season I have not rewatched in its entirity. But I'm hoping that this second time through I will enjoy it more. I know that I hated Season 6 the first time I watched and now I enjoy it (well, if you can enjoy that season...so dark...) We'll start with Lessons next week, I'll let you know.

-- Tomorrow is movie night with simontrueheart, maybedeadcat, and blu_harvest and I GOT TO PICK THE MOVIE! We're going to watch Almost Famous because I found out they had not seen it!!! I know, I just showed it to andy_wolverton on our movie night a few months back, but I want to watch it again. This movie came out at just the right time for me, when I was at the height of my music/band fangirl stage. Fell in love with the entire idea of it. PLUS have you watched it recently??? There are so many random people in it who went on to get more than "Almost Famous"...sorry, pun intended.

-- I'm getting hooked on Sims 3 again. simontrueheart & I are going to attempt to trade Sims online so we can make the game "multiplayer" in our own way by just populating a map with our home made Sims. I know, complicated stuff!

-- I want to start making icons again. I should just set a night of the week to do that. orangerful's art night. Make myself play in photoshop for a few hours. Just need to get inspired!!!

Okay, I should probably get to bed. Working tomorrow and then movie time so I'll be up late!! Want to make sure I can make it to the end of Almost Famous because I want to play some Rock Band too (because I always want to play Rock Band...it's a fact, call me up randomly and ask if I want to play RB with you and I will be like "OH HELL YES" but I get to sing "Still Alive" and you will LIKE IT DAMMIT!!!!)

I'm angrier that half the songs on Alpocalypse WERE RELEASED A YEAR AGO. How scummy is it that, "Internet Leaks," really were internet leaks we had to pay for? I want a whole new album, not a half-recycled one.

I love, "Still Alive." You can come to Canada and sing it for me any time.

Are you planning on checking out Shore Leave at all this weekend? There are a couple of us who usually go out to dinner after all the guest panels on Saturday night. We tend to end up at The Still b/c it's close by, but someone mentioned Bertucci's on York Rd. this year.

I can't believe they haven't seen Almost Famous!! What is wrong with them. (Of course, the same could be said about me and Fight Club, BUT STILL!) Have you seen The Rocker with Rainn Wilson? At one point he's like "I AM A GOLDEN FISH!"

I'm going to watch ep 10 of Game of Thrones before I go to bed. I've been trying to space it out and make it last a bit longer but I'm tired of waiting! Haha and all I could think at the end of ep 9 when they kind of zoomed in on Ned's face was "I'VE MADE A HUGE MISTAKE" /Bluth. The first book was SO good. I'm dying to get the second, but I'm 23 in the queue! D: Ohhh yeah, I just checked & I'm 19! MOVING UP!!! But still D:

SERIOUSLY girl, I gotta show you FIGHT CLUB, it is awesome. I have it on the blu-rays (also, have you checked your facebook messages? I sent ya a note on there about a proposition). I have not seen 'The Rocker', it's been in my Netflix queue for ages.

Also, I'm totally going to start shouting "Your looks have become a problem!" anytime I get into an argument with someone.

okay, I stayed up WAY too late last night and I am totally wiped today, think I'm going to have to pass on driving up to York Rd tonight. Thank you SO much for the invite though! Def. would like to get together at some point. Are you thinking of hitting up Baltimore Comic-Con this year? I wanted to go and check it out for giggles. I think it's next month....

Saw Super 8 with my niece yesterday and was disappointed, although I also forgot it almost immediately. Could have been a sweet Stand by Me kind of story and still have an exciting mystery, but no, it's summer, we need to have MEGA CGI EFFECTS. Which just made the whole "mystery" part of the story way over the top and silly. And that train crash- ho hum- cgi still looks so fake- a short, realistic crash would have been scary, but the fake cgi green screen mega crash that went on and on and on got so dull especially when you (quickly!) realized that the uber mega crash to end all crashes wasn't actually going to injure any of the characters, just dust them up a bit.. gah, I'm so sick of special effects-heavy movies and I didn't think this was going to be one.. bah humbug. (note: I don't think my niece was all that crazy about it either, so this isn't just me being an old fart)

I did get the message :) I just haven't had time to write a reply, but it sounds like a good idea to me!!

According to all reviews everywhere, I am in the minority when I say I loved The Rocker. But it was cute! And Teddy Geiger was in it! And Will Arnett! And Jason Sudeikis! And Jane Lynch! And Emma Stone! aljfsdl And yeah, it was predictable and parts of the plot kind of annoyed me, but I could totally overlook it because it was just that cute. If you're ever bored and want something a little light-hearted and silly, you should totally watch it.

YES I DID AND YES IT WAS AWESOME!! All the ladies were so badass. Even Sansa! The bit between Catelyn and Jaime wasn't in the book but it was SO GREAT. YOU HIT HIM WITH THAT ROCK!!! YOU GO!! And yay Robb and the whole King of the North thing!! And man, Catelyn being all ~We'll kill them all~ eeeheehee I get chills just thinking about it. And of course, Daenerys and the dragons. TL;DR - I NEED MOAR!!

Ahaha good luck! I never want to play Origins again lol. I just picked the defaults for my replays! xD

Yeah, the more I think about 'Super 8', the less I like it. It was a good idea but the execution was just poorly done. I think J.J. Abrams was trying to create a kid-buddy-movie thing in the same vein as Goonies but, in the end, got distracted by a stupid alien monster plot that makes NO sense. Diluted the kid's story and made a mess of the movie in the end. Blah, oh well.

I started up a Dalish Elf Warrior last night (because I wanted to get the achievement) and Merrill was there! She sounded less like Torchwood and more like Courtney Cox, but it was Merrill. I had no idea!

That's right! Okay, I know I just said I never wanted to play Origins again but that was a lie, because right now I want to play a dalish just to see what Merrill was like, cause I don't remember x) I've played through the dalish origin (for the achievement) and it really gives certain events in DA2 a bit more meaning ;)
