time to let LJ go?

So, I was just clicking around, just sorta browsing and I the most recent blog post that has people freaking out about livejournal. I wasn't too shocked by the changes (making the design more like tumblr since tumblr is kicking butt right now), but within the comments, I found a link to another article talking about how almost ALL of livejournal's U.S. employees have left and the entire operation will probably be run out of Moscow by next year.

So I'm trying to decide what that means about MY livejournal. It already seems more quiet over here...it makes me sad but this is the internet and maybe it's time to let go of Livejournal...I have a Dreamwidth account, which seems to be the transfer blog of choice since it's the same design.

I still want a blogging space where I can share my thoughts. Lord knows I have enough orangerful blogs out there that I can revive but I want to take my fandom friends with me.

Thoughts?

While I haven't had as much...time...for LJ as much as I did...

I don't see myself leaving just yet. I was fine with having this journal when I didn't really think of other people ever reading it. When it was just a place for me.

I view just about everything in my style and there were fixes for the comments and subject lines in comments and....

I just...as much as DW is "like" LJ....it isn't.

As much as everyone says they are moving....they don't really.

Lots of people crosspost from there to here, but I never want to take time to log in to another site to comment there or click twice to go to that post when I can comment on the cross post.

Meh.

I have been sleeping a lot. Interacting a little (we should all get together and play BANG! :D Maybe a round of Munchkin too.) and working/stressing most of the rest of the time. Internetting just hasn't been happening as much as it used to. At least not in the traditional sense for me.

Yeah, I've been thinking about this a lot more lately too. I don't know that I will move over to Dreamwidth. Like Morgan said, it's like LJ, but it's not LJ and half the time people say they'll leave but they don't. Even though there aren't a lot of people here that I talk to anymore (It's like, you two and maybe a few people I met from masseffect lol, and even then, it's still just you guys, haha.) I still like it. It's a nice place for me to journal and stuff, even if no one reads it and my posts have been few and far between since I started school. (And I also feel like I'm somehow ~betraying~ livejournal if I switched, lol.)

But, idk, maybe. I don't know that I could ever leave LJ forever, but maybe one day... like if it gets really super dead. Like it's the new myspace or something :C Fuck, that's depressing.

I know Laura is like, completely over on tumblr now, but idk that I could do that. To me, tumblr is just a place to look at pretty pictures, haha. I can't ever see it as a serious place to blog or anything. (And it moves way too fast for me.)

I'm on DW ("Zlabya") and find it works better, overall, except I can't post pictures. Also, it's Baltimore-based and the owner and many workers are women, so I like supporting it!

It's not as "fandommy" though, in its communities.

So I use both and cross-post from DW.

There was an article about the LJ move that said it best: there's no longer just one medium for fandom -- everybody's kind of everywhere these days. LJ, DW, AO3, tumblr...

LOL yeah, I've opted to stay with LJ, it still feels good to have a place to dump my rambles. Facebook and Tumblr just don't fill that void for me. So I will continue to ramble here about whatever until the Russians take it away from me LOL
