It's midnight and for some strange reason I decided to watch American Horror Story with commentary since I just checked out the DVD from the library and only get it for 7 days. I'm not a fan of GLEE so I didn't know that Ryan Murphy was from that show LOL. So far he is doing very well on the commentary.
Still can only watch this show with the media player minimized to 1/4 of the screen - just creeps me out too much. This season was so much better than the current season. I feel like they had a more solid idea of what they wanted to do. Season 2 meanders too much with episodes that don't feel like part of the arc. I keep telling
maybedeadcat that he has to watch this first season with me because then he will understand why I was so excited about season 2 starting...
I'm surprised how many lines/moment Murphy has said were ad-libbed or improvised...
Talking about the housing crisis and how this series just sorta tapped into that, completely by accident, reminds me of Battlestar Galactica syncing up with the whole 9/11 thing.
Actually, kind of surprised this is the only episode with commentary. Kinda wish the finale had one too.
"the whole show is a mixture of emotion, fear and sex" A-yup
the house as a metaphor for the family.
"about vulnerability and possession"
"you know what this show is about? It's about feminine rage" -- interesting comment
"infidelity" is the theme for this season.
Wow, I forgot how much happened in the first episode, at least how much character stuff. Especially with Violet...
Ryan Murphy <3 Jessica Lange. A lot. I love how he can see one look she gives the camera in the pilot and becomes inspired to write her character a certain way for the rest of the season.
I also forgot how crazy good the acting is in this show...I think that might be a problem in the new season too, not enough "REAL" people. There are too many monsters. The thing about season 1 is that this family is full of real people, people you can root for. There are too many crazy people and demons in this new season that it's hard to find one character to go with. There's no characters to tear down because they are all already crazy.
Yeah, this episode - so much better than the season 2 premiere.
Why did I watch this at 1am? Now I have to try to sleep. I R DUM LOL

The show sounds great, but gracious I don't think I could handle the scary. IT HAUNTS FROM BEYOND THE SCREEN.
