Sorta watching Ted right now. Got it from the library and it's due back soon so I figured I'd put it in the DVD player. I didn't want to subject [livejournal.com profile] maybedeadcat to it since it didn't have the highest rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It has some moments, but it did make me realize something -- Mila Kunis is way to good for everyone I have to draw the line at shit jokes. There is just something about them, to me, it crosses a line from humor to just being disgusting. There's a scene in Ted where the main character comes home to discover someone has shit on the floor. Just...doesn't amuse me. I also watched Stepbrothers today and there was a poop joke in that. And what scene do I not enjoy in the unrated Anchorman DVD? Yep, the scene where they make Ron literally eat shit.

EDIT: This movie was just all over the place. Best part was Patrick Warburton because he makes all things better. But...yeah, Seth MacFarlane should never be allowed that much free reign on anything.

I don't always love shit jokes, most of the time I don't. I didn't love that scene in "Stepbrothers" or the one in "Anchorman" but I did like the one in "Ted" mainly for Mila Kunis's reaction.

I watched "Ted" a few months ago with my family and I mostly LOL a lot at it. It gets a bit disjointed at the end, and overlong, but I liked it for the most part.

...did you watch that movie on a dare? Seth MacFarlane makes me sad on the inside and outside. I mean, I really liked early Family Guy (prior to it's initial cancellation). It had neat storylines, continuity, it was basically an edgier Simpsons. Then the show came back on the air and Fox let MacFarlane do whatever he wanted. And it was revealed that the man had the sense of humor of an 8 year old. The scene you described, where a character comes back to find someone shit on the floor...? WTF, how is that even humorous??

bathroom humor of that sort stops being funny when one hits around 13 years old...emotionally. Some people never get that far and hence, that awful scene in TED. Which I never planned on seeing and now am going to avoid like the plague.

I struggle to really like anything Seth McFarlane makes. I just... it's funny for a little bit and then it inevitably crosses a line for me. And then he proceeds to cross it fifteen more times because his target audience thinks it's funny and I'm just standing there like, "Wtf is this?"

Yeah, I think it would have been a lot better had it been shorter. I was ready for it to be done when the first ending happened but then they did the whole kidnapping thing and it just sorta drug on.

Also, I'm wondering if watching it alone also made a difference. Comedies are more fun when other people are there to laugh with you.

And, on a side note, apparently I find watching obnoxious children getting punched hilarious.

Lol I was hoping it would be amusing and it had moments but overall Seth Macfarlane's style of humor does not jive with mine. I can only take so many racist/homophobic/antisemetic/bodily function jokes. Season 1-3 of Family Guy was great but this was more like watching him host the Oscars.

Yeah, you're not missing anything. Pretty cliche apart from the talking bear.

That pretty much sums up the entire movie. It would have been better as an SNL sketch rather than sustained for 100 minutes

Watching comedies in groups really does up the enjoyment factor.

*raises hand* Love watching obnoxious kids getting what's coming to them. :)

I've always been really attracted to Seth Macfarlane but the whole thing at the Oscars helped me to stop being in denial. He's just a bad fella. :\
