It's been a wild year, lots of ups and downs for all of us and for the world. But we made it and we made it together.

I am so thankful to have been a part of this online community and to have made so many great friendships, to have a place to share my thoughts on everything from politics to the latest episode of some goofy television show and have some amazing conversations with people all over the planet.

You are all amazing.

Even if you are not in the U.S., have a bit of pie today for me (or maybe a bit of Eggnog with a splash of something special hehe)

HOME HOME HOME!!!!!!! It was a whirlwind trip but I got to see all of my peoples. It had been over a year which was way too long. I love New England. Next time I want to do a proper Boston wander, but we just couldn't fit it in the schedule this time. I'm hoping maybe we can take Sylvia next year, do all the history things that are lying around that part of the country.

And now I am going to reunite with my bed. Because I have missed it SO MUCH! Nothing compares to your own pillows.

Took the morning off to "recover" (because I wasn't sure when we would get back today and also I don't wanna wake up /whining)

FYI I did a little friends cut today. Mostly people who I never felt like I clicked with or we didn't comment on each other's posts etc. No hard feelings! I find myself struggling to keep up with posts some days and I feel bad skimming past posts and when I checked the statistics to confirm we never really talked, I figured it was best to say goodbye.

Because, why not? (though I feel like I just friended everyone left on LJ last week!!!!!!)

I can't believe I just paid $13 for a SINGLE ticket to see Zoolander 2 tonight. It was $11.25 for the ticket + a random service charge.



But I'm not thinking of it as just a movie, but a Galentine's Day gathering with two awesome ladies.

We're going to a Vietnamese place for dinner called Phubs before the movie. I've only had pho once and I didn't really care for it so I'm not sure if I will give it a second try or maybe have one of the subs. They all look good (then again, it's almost lunch time so EVERYTHING looks good to me right now).

I don't know why but I am EXHAUSTED today. On the desk until 7pm and it's relatively busy so far so it's keeping me awake. Murk got the science fair project question, thank goodness! I've had a few RA questions.

A Children's Lit student just asked me what "Modern Fantasy" was and I thought it just meant new fantasy books set in modern times but then she said her teacher used "The Little Mermaid" as an example and I don't really think of Hans Christian Anderson as "modern" anything. Of course, I had to Google it and I found this information on the University of Wisconsin website which pretty much says "modern fantasy" just means fantasy stories that we know the actual author of. So I think the books I ended up giving her were okay...though she did take a King Arthur story, do we know who wrote that? probably not.

1. Is there someone on your friends list that you haven't met in real life that you love completely? Hm...I dunno, I have a lot of people I really like but I don't know if I can profess my complete love for anyone I haven't ever seen or met LOL. :)

2. Have you [wanted to] date someone on LJ? uh, well, I initially signed up for LJ because my then-boyfriend was using it. Otherwise, no one I can think of was my type :)

3. Have you met someone/wanted to meet someone from LJ? Who? YES! I've met jellibean, faeriesfolly, and lostacanthus! I NEED to meet duncatraand plumxxjam someday! And I have several other IRL friends who lurk on my LJ but I knew them before LJ. :)

4. Who have you known the longest from your flist? Hm...probably jellibean, faeriesfolly, and spitefairy, though she doesn't post anymore on here :(

5. Who are you closest to? bittertwee and lostacanthus are probably my BFFs on LJ and IRL (convenient, yes?)

So we had a crazy storm here in Maryland on Friday night. My apartment, thank goodness, did not lose power. Guess that's one of the plus sides of living in a giant concrete box. My parents, faeriesfolly, and most of my county, however, was not as lucky. I went to work on Saturday only to find out the library was out of power. I had some personal leave sitting around though, so I took that and went home for the day because figuring out what branches *did* have power was kind of tricky. I know at least 3 were out. I'm wondering if BGE hasnt' managed to get all the residential customers online if they have even bothers with the commercial customers.

My mom texted me at 10pm to tell me it was now officially hotter in their basement than outside. I bet they've never looked forward to going to work so much before.

On the fun side, maybedeadcat, lostacanthus, Mathew, and I went down to D.C. today to check out the Art of Video Games exhibit. The exhibit itself was epic fail. They confused "art" and "history" and instead just had on display all the different consoles with images of the top 4 games from each, voted on by the Internetz. I really wanted to see some ART from VIDEO GAMES! *sigh* But it led to some great conversation between the 4 of us about games, gaming, art, and just how much we love that genre. So I will give them that.

maybedeadcat & I played a bit more Lego Harry Potter too. Finally unlocked and EVIL character (Barty "David Tennant in Lego form" Crouch Jr.) so we can *finally* blow up all the red glowing things which are hiding the last pieces of all the house crests and characters. SOON WE WILL HAVE 100% !!!! (well...maybe not soon...but def. before the Lord of the Rings game comes out).

Speaking of games, I want to play a bit of Skyrim before bedtime. Listening to maybedeadcat and lostacanthus discuss their playthroughs gave me an itch to play. (Of course, yesterday faeriesfolly reminded me about the DLC for DragonAge II I with Felicia Day and I may have gotten a little too excited about romancing her. I need to finish my second playthrough of that too...
