Poor Pillowfort, so much attention and it was not ready for it. I keep trying to check the site and usually I have it up for about 5 minutes and then I'll try to comment or post and it errors out on me. I have a feeling people will give up soon enough but it is still too bad. I can tell you that EVERYONE uses it from 1-3 because I was playing with it at work (shhhhhh) and in the morning it was fine and then right at lunch time CRASH.

GoodReads just generated my "year in review" but I'm not done yet! I've got a couple graphic novels on my desk that I am determined to finish. Not going to hit my goal of 100 books, but 70 is respectable.

Kermit is one of my favorite ornaments. I tried to share it on PF but it kept rotating the image and I can't stay logged in long enough to fix it. :\ John Denver and the Muppets "Christmas Together" album is my favorite holiday album. Whole thing is up on Spotify too which makes me happy, means I'm not alone! If you have not listened to it, make sure you do. Especially "Silent Night" since it is the 200th anniversary of the writing of that song this year.

I miss this show. Wish Disney would release all of these on blu-ray.

Fraggle Rock is so underrated. I need to watch them all again. So many messages about how to approach life.

I miss Jim Henson. I love that The Muppets are back on the big screen and coming to TV again, but they have never been able to fully capture Jim's heart and soul. It's little moments like this that remind me...

We watched "The Bells of Fraggle Rock" yesterday as part of my Christmas viewing marathon and I think...I think it may be the best non-denominational holiday winter special of all time.

I'm not sure if everyone can watch it or not, but Hulu has it highlighted on their front page today so it may be free to view.

It really gets to the core of what holidays are for. Of what any festival is for. The celebrations that are meant to lift us up when the world is at its coldest. To keep us active and around friends when the days are shortest. That tradition has a purpose, though it might not be a measurable or tangible one. It's about faith, but not in one specific god, but just faith in life, in the world, in your friends, in your family.

And that you should always bring your mittens.

I don't think this episode gets enough credit or attention. Seriously, if you have 20 minutes tonight, watch it.

Been a rainy weekend and my motivation to do anything is nonexistent LOL. I did just package up the two items I sold on ebay so I can ship them and get paid. Yay for fun money!

Found out yesterday that I have been wearing the wrong bra size for awhile. Not sure if I was just measured wrong or if it's because we haven't worked out since November when Tim hurt his knee. Anyway, thanks to the birthday gift card that Victoria's Secret sends to their card holders, I now have one bra that fits LOL. Oh well,

Watched Despicable Me 2 on Friday night and it was fun. I think I liked it more than the first, and I'm going to say that is Kristen Wiig's fault because she is awesome.

OMG PSYCH FINALE! I think they did a great job wrapping up the show just enough to give the fans closure but leaving enough things open for specials (which apparently USA has already expressed an interest in). I did get a little teary eyed near the end and I could see that Sylvia was definitely crying by the end. I think this was her first series finale. She really loves Psych, which always amazes me since so much of that show is references to 80s movies and stars she has never seen. I guess it really is a testament to how well written the show is that someone who doesn't even get half of the jokes can still love it. (believe me though, I've been doing my best to catch her up on 80s popular culture!)

Just discovered that the Muppets Most Wanted soundtrack is on Spotify and it has FIVE demo tracks sung by Bret McKenzie and it makes me so happy to hear his voice again. I miss Flight of the Conchords so much. Now there's a show I wouldn't mind getting a special for.

I actually had something I was going to post about but now I have forgotten! I think I'm gonna have a snack and play a video game...I finally completed the main storyline for Assassin's Creed II so I'm debating going through and getting all the achievements I have left or starting up a new game (Tim has been playing AC4 and I'm tempted to start up a game of that myself...). Gamestop sent me a 20% off coupon for a used game as a birthday present and I am debating whether to go get the rest of the Ezio trilogy or AC3. Life is full of tough choices, isn't it?

Day 11 - A show that disappointed you
Might as well go with the first one. As bittertwee said to me, great love spawns great bitterness. I speak of none other than THE X FILES.

Seriously, I devoted almost every Friday night of my middle school and high school life to this show. It started out so solid: great characters, great stories, actually SCARY television, a huge mystery to solve...and then it just got ridiculous. Our theory is that Chris Carter didn't know how to handle the Internet and instead of embracing the fan speculation, he paniced when he saw people guessing correctly what was probably his plot twist, so he veered into weirder directions. And then they PROMISED that the first movie would be an EPIC series finale...then FOX was all "Why don't you talk to our friends Grant and Jackson CHA-CHING!" and the show dragged on. And I kept watching...up until the infamous butt-genie episode (midget w/ no legs on a squeaky cart hides in people's BUTTS!!!!!!!!) and then I could no longer deny how horrible it was.

Runners up in this category would be Heroes and Lost. Gotta think BEYOND the first season people.

Day 13 - Favorite childhood show
The only childhood show that actually survived my childhood - The Muppet Show. I can still watch that show and love every minute of it. I used to wake up and watch it before I went to school because some network in Virginia was rerunning the series. I think my mom must have taped them too because I had at least 3 VHS tapes floating around of lots of episodes. Henson humor is the best kind of humor. I wish they would put out the rest of the series on DVD and also get the Jim Henson Hour on DVD too. So much great TV from one man. *tear*

Day 14 - Favorite male character
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. Wesley was the Willow of Angel. Of all the characters, he had the biggest developmental arc that lasted all five seasons. And while I was frustrated with his actions sometimes, I never disliked him completely. He managed to evolve from a leather-clad dork falling off his motorcylce to a master of magic. But you could always see that glimmer of the man we met in Season 3 of Buffy - insecure, scared, shy. Especially when Fred was around.

Yesterday was our 9th Anniversary. 9 years since AD & I met face to face for the first time and went out on our first date.

On Saturday, when we were wandering through the mall, AD mentioned that he had purchased a gift for me for our anniversary. I, being a total dufus, had completely flaked on the fact that February came right after January and had done nothing. I felt really bad and I was trying to think of what to get for him.

Then Amazon sent me an email saying that Zombieland came out on blu-ray on Tuesday and I thought I had it all figured out - he must have pre-ordered that movie because we loved it so much when we saw it in the theater. Feeling very proud of myself, I decided I would get some clams casino from the local seafood market on my way home as a gift for him.

So I get home and I see this on the table:



"Hm", I think, "There isn't anything on that plate that looks blu-ray shaped...also there appears to be some kind of theme going on...not sure what it is..."

AD munched on his yummy clams casino while we talked about what we wanted to get for dinner, since going out didn't seem like a good idea with the snow forecast for the evening.

"OH, and do you know what came out today?" AD asked me.
"Yeah....Zombieland, right? I actually thought that's what you were getting me."
"Nope, I didn't know it was coming out until I saw it at Target"
"oh..." *tries to think of what the heck he could have gotten me

Before we left to go pick up some Mexican food for dinner (and spin by Target to pick up Zombieland for our evening viewing), AD made me sit down and open my present.

The border card, if you look closely, is made up of icons I had made for Livejournal. AD printed it out on sticker paper so I could cut them out and stick them to things. Already, his awesome amazes me.

I picked up the piece of paper with Kermit printed on the back. What could it be??? I pulled off the string, trying to make out the image on the other side of the paper...I slowly unfolded it and...

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S A GIFT CARD TO THE MUPPET WHATNOT WORKSHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you that do not know, the workshop is an FAO NYC exclusive where you can build your own Muppet Whatnot (the "extra" Muppets you see in the background all the time). I've wanted one since they launched the store a few years ago.

After we had dinner and watched Zombieland on blu-ray (which is still hilarious on the second viewing) I sat in front of my computer trying to design my Whatnot. It is SRS BSNS. I've narrowed it down to the blue body, round red eyes, and the hoodie...I think I like either the pink or the yellow boa hair...but I'm totally stuck on the nose color/shape.

So, there you have it - after NINE years together, this boy still surprises me. I did not expect this at all and I was just blown away.

*sigh* and now I have to go to work! Maybe it will be quiet on the desk and I can perfect my Whatnot design...
