THERE IS A STARDEW VALLEY BOARD GAME NOW!

I decided to buy myself an early birthday present.

(fun fact: most of the games I backed on Kickstarter are about to show up too LOL I'm going to be BURIED in board games and have no friends to play with because stupid covid and ARGH)

First week of work went really well. It is hard wearing the mask all day but we all found time to kind of sneak away and breath. We're a small group so it wasn't too hard to social distance and we were all wearing masks so even if we did get a bit closer than we should have, we weren't breathing on each other.

The good news is that we are not opening to the public until July 6th (initially it was June 15). We are starting curbside and phone service tomorrow. Curbside is a BRAND NEW service so we have no idea what to expect from our patrons. We have SO MANY BOOKS on the hold shelf right now, hopefully they do not all show up tomorrow LOL.

The world is on fire and I have swung back and forth all week, looking at the news, then hiding from it. I've donated money to several organizations and I can't really think of what else to do besides social media support, emailing representatives etc. I am not brave enough to go to a protest. Just looking at the images of all the people gives me anxiety and you all know I dealt with crowds at PAX and what not. But I will try my best to be better, do better.

So, yeah, still playing Animal Crossing every day for a moment of mindless fun. My crokinole board arrived last week also and I LOVE it. I wish Tim liked it LOL. He just doesn't like games he can't win? I still love him though...I guess. :P Sylvia played with me and she enjoyed it. I'm thinking about visiting my parents, maybe wearing our masks and playing outside, if it is a nice day. That would probably be safest.

I'm wondering if I could visit them before July 6th. We've been pretty safe, and I feel like my staff has also been following the rules so I doubt any of us have the virus. But once we start working with patrons, all bets will be off. So maybe...I dunno. It's a thing in my brain.

I also did a bit of retail therapy and ordered some tabletop games from a local store to support them. And I had a coupon for an online store so I ordered some more miniatures to paint. Of course no one will play with me right now but whatever. I also backed a few games on Kickstarter because I HAVE A PROBLEM! But those won't show up any time soon.

Okay, need to get to bed and read for a bit. I started Accused! The Trials of the Scottsboro Boys: Lies, Prejudice and the Fourteenth amendment because I had it in my pile at work and this felt like the right time. The saddest part is, if I tweeted the headlines in this book, you wouldn't be able to tell they were from 1931...you'd think they were from yesterday. And people don't believe there is a problem.

Everyone stay safe, stay healthy, and support change. We won't fix things by tomorrow, but we can get things moving in the right direction.

After much research and waffling, I bought myself a laptop. Ever since the computer shenanigans at the library system last year, when we had the crippling malware attack, I've been leery of logging into personal stuff while at work. Plus, with road trips to Wisconsin and my poor iPad pretty much a glorified movie streamer, I wanted something I could use to read and post that was bigger than my phone. I don't mind reading on my phone but I can't stand typing much more than a few sentences.

So I decided to buy a laptop. And since I was going to do this anyway, I wanted one that could handle some simple games so when I take it with my on road trips, I can also get into Steam. I know, probably not necessary with my Switch BUT if I was going to make an investment, I was going to go for it.

I was also thinking about how the heck I used to watch so many things in the past and it was because when I lived in an apartment, my computer was next to the TV so it was easy to multitask. So I kinda like the idea of having a computer I can bring around with me for when I'm watching movies or TV on my own. Like with my Fraggle Rock rewatches. I've been taking notes the whole time but now I can just live blog my thoughts.

wait stop don't unfriend me! ;-P

It’s still a selfie if you can’t see my whole face, right? Twas my day off and I used the time to recharge mentally after yesterday’s full on drain. Played lots of video games and just chilled. Wanted to show off my P!atd shirt too! That’s my desk behind me, Leia says hi.

I picked up Horizon: Zero Dawn which, according to my most recent save file, I had not played since September of 2018. Oops. To be fair, the game made me mad. It is open world and I wandered into a zone and triggered a quest I was not prepared for yet. And I hadn't saved in awhile or something and I didn't want to go back at the time because I knew how much progress I had made. But after almost a year collecting dust on my shelf, I had forgotten pretty much everything, so rolling it back to a save that was the day before that last one wasn't as cringe inducing. And OMG I realized I had a bunch of really early quests I hadn't bothered to do that had equipment rewards/training and yeah...oops!

I was bad today and bought some stuff from Torrid...I mean, it was 40% off + another 5% because they own my soul I have their credit card so I got a deal! I bought Star Wars shorts. I couldn't resist!!! I've got Star Wars on the brain with every damn nerd site I follow going to Galaxy's Edge last week. And now OutsideXbox is back there AGAIN today because they are in California for E3 and the whole gang is there and they were Instagramming it all afternoon. JUST TORTURE! I'm thinking maybe we can go in 2021. By then, all the rides should be open and running. And they should have the whole line system worked out. Apparently you make an appointment for when you get to go into Galaxy's Edge so only a certain number of people are in there at a given time. And you have color coded wrist bands so that the park people can easily tell how much time you have left and let you know if you can or cannot do something.

Oh, and my Dad officially retired today! 25 years as a federal employee (and he had retired from the Navy before that so he has served his country well, yeah?) Anyway, my Mom said my Dad was home by 10:45 am and she emailed me around noon saying he had called her 3 times already. LOL. It's a good thing she is retiring too, though not for a few more weeks.

Anywayz, need to get to bed. Workin' tomorrow. Hoping it is chill, the weather is kind of blah - hot and cloudy, storms are lurking. TTFN

I couldn't resist a sale - Adobe Photoshop Elements 2019 was on sale for $70 (regularly $100) this past week and I downloaded the free trial and it does what I think I would need it to do for my level of graphics making so I figured what the heck!

Plus, I'm doing a program on organizing your digital photo collection at work so I felt inspired to start scanning my older photos to back them up online and I used the Photo Organizer that comes with this program too and I was enjoying that.

So now I'm trying to decide what to make! I definitely need a new banner for DW - I've had Kristen up there since I first got this blog! But which fandom should I feature? Decisions decisions. I feel like Expanse would be a good one. Though I might be all cliche and do a "well behaved women" banner with all the leading ladies from my shows right now.

BUT I think I'm close to the end of "Call of Cthulu" so I'm going to play that for a bit before it's bedtime!

I've got about 70 emails in my inbox of posts I need to read but I was distracted today because one of the games I've had on my Steam wishlist for awhile is the "Free to play" for the weekend game!

If you have Steam and like management sims games with a sense of humor, give Two Point Hospital a try. It's simultaneously cracking me up to find out a patient has literal "verbal diarrhea" and watching the janitor run to clean it up then frantically clicking as I realize I need to build a facility that can handle the treatment and hire another nurse!

I'm working tomorrow so I'll probably sneak a peak at the ol' flist if it is quiet on the desk. On Saturdays, I tend to just take it easy at work, it's hard to focus on the weekends. Plus, we are usually pretty busy anyway so there's no point working on real projects when you know you're going to be called out to the desk every few minutes.

I was bad and just ordered yet another t-shirt, but I NEEDED it because Outside Xbox made a special commemorative PAX East 2019 shirt!! Problem is, I even went the extra mile and tried to pay for rush shipping but there is either a glitch in the system or they know they can't guarantee delivery so it wouldn't charge me for the rush shipping. I submitted a ticket but it got my hopes up that maybe I could bring it with my to PAX for them to autograph. Ah well.

Okay, going to sneak in a few more minutes of hospital management before I need to get to bed.

I collect the Disney Movie Reward points and I've been hoarding them for awhile. They just haven't had any movies or rewards that appealed to me. And then I saw her:

Now, I have a strict "no shopping for myself" rule from Nov-Dec 25 because I don't want to buy myself something that might be gifted to me...and I have not seen the new Wreck-It Ralph BUT I ADORE Rapunzel/Tangled. She is my spirit animal princess. So when I saw I could get her for FREE with my Disney Movie Rewards points I was like HECK YES! It doesn't count as buying it if I just used pointed, right???

I'm tempted to go back and get Belle too, if only because she has a book and will fit in with my librarian decor but I know this is a slippery slope because OMG THEY ARE JUST ALL SO ADORABLE!

Guess what finally arrived? (or, you know, I finally drove over to Hot Topic to pick up my order because it was free ship-to-store)?

Yup, the Star Wars themed makeup from Her Universe! I love the lipstick already, even if the "Dark Side" is crazy dark and I'm not sure I could wear it in public without feeling self conscious. But how could I resist these little lightsabers? Behold my nerdiness as I reach into my R2-D2 shaped purse and pull out Luke Skywalker's lightsaber!

Untitled

Don't worry, the blade colors are NOT the gloss color. "Dagobah Dusk" is calm matte beige, Tatooine is a pink with sparkles and the Dark Side is a dark purple...okay that one IS the same color!

Speaking of wearing things in public...how the hell does one wear makeup like this? I've never worn makeup apart from lipstick. I went through an eye shadow phase back in the day and it was the "high intensity pigment" styles that really POPPED and, again, not sure I could get away with that out in public now. I guess I just need to look at the colors and figure out what work together? Should I make my eye shadow match my outfit? Is that too extra?

I texted Tim's daughter and told her I would need her to train me. She messaged back:

so I will take that as a yes.

For any of you fellow 80s children/Henson fans out there:

Pre-order is $76, not too shabby for the whole series on shiny blu-ray. I sent my Mom a very subtle email asking her to buy it for me for Christmas (well, I asked her to please forward a message to Santa...she knows him!!!!)

I have the series on DVD but it has to be one of the WORST boxed sets ever. The case was pretty much a giant binder with paper folders so the discs slid all over. I had to return it twice when I bought it because of scratches. So I'm really happy to upgrade. Plus, BLU-RAY quality! YAAAAAAAS!

The winter episode is one of my favorites, I watch it every Christmas and I think it still has one of the best messages about tradition and family. But I would love to watch them all again and this set should make it worth it on so many levels.

And it comes with an Uncle Traveling Mat cutout to take with you into the land of the Silly Creatures ala Flat Stanley. I love this and I'm so doing it.

If any of you U.S. shoppers "need" anything from Hot Topic, I have a couple Hot Cash codes I'm not going to use. One is for $15 off of $30 and the other is for $30 off of $60. They are good until July 22. First comment, first served!

I just bought a Star Wars shirt + Her Universe makeup (even though I never wear makeup...but maybe I will if it is STAR WARS MAKEUP!)

Now off to spend my Torrid Haute Cash...then I need to hide my wallet.
orangerful: Santa Yoda felt your presents (star wars)
So, I recently realized that I need to toss out most of my old Her Universe shirts. It's sad but true, that the "plus size" Juniors shirts are not cut for someone who is an adult with boobs. Recently I noticed that they are just rubbing under my arms the wrong way and causing problems.

Luckily, there are plenty of new Star Wars movies on the horizon so I have been buying up the plus size shirts from Torrid and Hot Topic to replace my collection LOL.

Yes, that is my excuse for impulse purchasing the new Han Solo top and bottoms from Hot Topic a few minutes ago, even though the pricing is a bit silly, I couldn't resist!

Also I have a soft spot for bell bottoms (I blame George Harrison and his sweet style on the cover of Abbey Road).

Her Universe Solo Bell Bottoms

And, of course, I needed the top to match! LOOK AT THOSE GLORIOUS 70s COLORS!

Now I need to swear off shopping for awhile...I was really bad this past month with all my Kohls/Haute/Birthday cash that the stores gave me. This will be it though, I promise (oooh wait what is this email from Torrid with the other Star Wars tops...)

This is what happens when you are home and they are working on replacing both your front AND back door so you just sit at your computer, unguarded.
