Teams and Crushes
Feb. 14th, 2014 11:18 pmThis week has been a bit crazy and I feel so out of sync!! Just realized I missed two questions from the list and I think I will answer them now :)
Would you rather be the best player on a horrible team or the worst player on a great team?
Hm...that is a really tough question, mostly because I am not a sports person so the idea of me playing on a team is just hilarious. Being the best player on a horrible team only works if the team is only horrible when they play and not to each other. If, off the field, we are having fun together, but on the field it's kind of a mess, well I suppose that would be okay. Then again, being on a great team and getting all the attention would be great, but if you're the worst player, fans can be pretty mean and I'm thinking the rest of the team wouldn't be so thrilled to have you around on non-game days.
Clearly, I am working this out right now because I really wasn't sure which I would prefer but, in the end, I guess it's best player on the worst team. Because somehow we would make our own fun.
Who was your first crush?
If we are talking notes in my "diary" and posters on the wall, I think it would probably be Scott Bakula during the "Quantum Leap" era. He was later dethroned for a short period of time for Kevin Costner (blame Robin Hood) but eventually they were both replaced by Sean Patrick Flannery when Young Indiana Jones Chronicles premiered. He was the first poster on my wall, as Young Indy (it was included in a Scholastic book I bought at the book fair).

Oh man, that episode with him and the Mata Hari? Talk about fodder for my pre-pubescent fantasies LOL. When I went to Dragon*Con and saw him sitting in the autograph room, I went up and told him that he was the first poster I had on my wall and he was like "OMG I WAS YOUR FARAH FAWCETT!" and he told the guy next to him "HEY! I WAS HER FARAH!" (it's only now that I realize that random guy was Norman Reedus...they were there for Boondock Saints II, pre-Walking Dead...he now outranks SPF in hotness...oh dear god, his initials are SPF???)
Then, there was David Duchovny. He was probably the first full-on obsession. I memorized dates, knew who he was dating at all times, read all the articles I could find. I made a little DDEB (David Duchovny Estrogen Brigade) business card and kept it in my wallet, next to the photo of him I had cut out from the newspaper. I even found someone online (who probably had no idea how old I was) and got them to send me the Playgirl interview with David. And, I swear, I didn't even look at the other non-David pictures. I was so mortified, I just glued the pages down on construction paper to hide the "naughty" side and just wanted access to the David side (DD did NOT pose nude, just interviewed).

As for real people? Ummmm...I guess Jimmy Driscoll, the red-headed kid in my 5th grade class. I remember playing basketball with him and his friend during recess a lot. I was terrible but it was the only way I could think of to get him to hang out with me. That was about as far as the flirtation went.

Date: 2014-02-17 03:59 am (UTC)I REALLY wish they would do a decent release of the Quantum Leap show. The DVDs look like ass. I have them and even when the blu-ray player tries to upscale them, they just look so bad. Plus there were all kinds of shenanigans with getting the rights to the music so there are whole scenes with no music because some random 50s pop star wouldn't give them permission.
