I don't usually share pictures of food but this salad was life changing.

Because usually I laugh at the idea of a salad for lunch. I'm SO hungry at 1pm that I stuff myself with pastas and bread and leftover dinners. But I caught andy_wolverton eating this on Monday and my mouth started to water and I had to get one for myself.

It's from the Breakfast Shoppe, just a short walk from the library. They call it "Granny Loves Strawberries" and the salad has all of these delicious ingredients:

romaine lettuce hearts
strawberries
granny smith apples
walnuts
goat cheese
grilled chicken
+ strawberry vinegrette

It would have never have crossed my mind to combine all of these delicious things into one salad. I'm hoping I can recreate the experience at home because it was SO good and SO filling (this salad lasted me two days).

Do you have any food combinations that sound weird at first but then surprised you to suggest??? I'm struggling to add some new meals to my dinner rotation. I'm a very basic (read: lazy) cook so the easier the better.

As a salad queen and self-proclaimed salad expert, I approve of this salad. ♥ (For real, though, that salad looks fantastic and I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!)

I'll have to write down some of my better salad ideas so you can give them a try and see if you like them! I do my best to make hearty salads that could be a meal on their own because I've always felt that salad should be more than lettuce and ranch dressing.

LOVE that salad! I always ask them to hold the cheese, but otherwise it's perfect. You could easily make this at home. Cindy has made variations on this several times. So glad you liked it!

Usually I run away from salads with fruit on them, but oh man does that looks absolutely delicious and a perfect thing to eat around this time of year. If you end up recreating it, I hope you share the recipe with us.

LJ probably added the instagram thing in their recent update...most likely. Probably one of the better things about the update at least. btw, mind If I add you on Instagram?
