To kick off Memorial Day weekend, I played my first ever game of Dungeons and Dragons!

It was actually really fun! It didn't help get over any childhood trauma or work through other problems as television would have me to believe. And it didn't make me want to worship the Dark One, as some Christian groups make it appear. It was pretty much just several hours of being completely goofy and trying to fight monsters.
There is a lot of math though, and as the night went on, I found it hard to decipher the rules because I was so sleepy! But we survived our first quest!
We also managed to work in a hike and a swim over the weekend. Sylvia wanted to rewatch Hunger Games since she had just finished the book and wanted to compare. She also wanted to watch Breakfast Club because she fell asleep during a slumber party and missed it. I hadn't seen it since I was in high school, so at least 15 years ago. I remembered being less than impressed then and...yeah I was underwhelmed again. I was never that angsty in high school so it didn't connect with me. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is my favorite of the John Hughes collection.
And now it's thundering outside...we're supposed to game tonight so hopefully the power doesn't go out!
