Just finished catching up on this season of Once Upon a Time. The last few episodes were definitely a surprise. I felt like even the writers knew that the Oz story had run it's course and they needed something else.

I liked a lot of the character development this season with Regina and Emma. The writers definitely took a page from Wicked, playing with what it means to be evil vs wicked and how someone has the right to choose, they are not just born that way. We've seen it and heard it all before, but I think they pulled it off well. Especially with the dangling thread that was Rumple's betrayal - lying to Belle and killing Zelena. Will that come back to haunt him? I think it will, I think during a fight Belle is going to whip out the dagger and try to command him to stop doing something and it's not going to work. And then the magic is gonna hit the fan.
I am a little worried that the return of Marian will make Regina go all evil again, which would be a shame as I am sick of that cycle. Of course, if the teaser at the end with Elsa is true, perhaps she will embrace the idea of the Frozen Heart and the two of them will become ice queens.
And at first I was sorta eye-rolling my way through the Back to the Future homage (which they at least had the decency to acknowledge right off the bat) but when it got to the end, when Emma realized how much she loved her family and how much she was at fault for pushing them away, I understood why those two episodes were so important. Maybe even more important than anything else that happened the entire season.
I won't lie, I totally started to get teary eyed when Past!Rumple made Emma tell him about Baelfire. I was never a huge Emma/Neil shipper, I liked them and felt it was a believable romance. But, again, she really misses him now that he is truly gone. And I knew that had to be the baby's name right after that and again with the tears. Maybe I shouldn't watch this show when I'm a little tired LOL.
