Was ranting about Into the Woods with one of my co-worker theater
geek friends and it made me think I should check if there had been any more
follow up posts. Turns out, there was. Rob Marshall makes me feel better
about the movie again. Still nervous, but I feel much better (and omg can
we stop referring to it as the witch's rap???)

The trailer was at two movies I've seen lately, and in both of them I have loudly asked God and everyone in the audience WHY ARE THEY PRETENDING IT IS NOT A MUSICAL?!?

I KNOW RIGHT!??!

My concerns are mostly aimed at Meryl Streep who is a fantastic actress, but I don't think of her as a singer. Especially not a Bernadette Peters level of singer.

Yeah, she did okay with ABBA in Mamma Mia, but I think perhaps someone vastly underestimated the complexity of Sondheim. I suspect she can do Stay With Me very well, but I'm a little concernicus rex about Last Midnight.

Also I am so over Johnny Depp, and iiiiiiiit's sorta creepy that Red is an actual little girl instead of a teenager, but man, I am looking all the forward to seeing Chris Pine get his Agony on.

YES! If anyone can play a smarmy prince, it's Chris Pine LOL! I'm hoping the next trailer will have some singing.

I'm kind of excited for this but I really wanted to hear some singing in the trailer.
Also as it's not clearly signposted as a musical I wonder how many people will go see it and then bitch about all the singing.
