Anyone else not really feelin' the new Mockingjay soundtrack? Why does all the music sound like it's for some dance party? I tried listening to it on Spotify and found myself dropping everything to walk over and hit "NEXT" on the controls.

The first soundtrack was SO good, filled with songs written for the series, for District 12. Catching Fire's mix was full of songs bubbling over with rebellion. Apparently Mockingjay Part 1 will be ... a big rave?

I know I haven't read that book in a few years but I'm pretty sure I'd remember that!!

I love love LOVE Spotify. It's totally legal and they do pay the artists a little bit per listen (or the label really but it's still better than the big goose egg they would get for listening via YouTube). And you can stream on your tablet or phone too. It's just a great way to find new music and test run albums before you buy. :)

Is it an app that requires data so I would need wifi for it?

Yes, it does stream the music, doesn't download anything to your device. You would need some kind of connection to the internet to have it work, either on your PC or device. :)

Cause I was thinking that would be the perfect thing to listen to while at the gym. However, I don't know if the gym I'm going to has free wifi. I'd have to ask. Otherwise - keep my music list that I already have.

Yeah, IA, it's totally weird and out of place.

The first movie soundtrack was perfection, IMO, because as you said it had music specifically written for the story and all the songs overall just had that feel of what District 12 and that world was about. It fit, it made sense, you could literally close your eyes and feel that you were wandering about District 12 and understanding who Katniss is and her story. But now, it's like they're trying to squish all these different assorted artists into a soundtrack just so they can have like, idk, their own personal promotion in a popular franchise? Like, I expected something along the lines of melancholy or dealing with war or personal agony, but it really is just a mix party track list. I think someone pointed out that it's almost like any other teen movie soundtrack, just randomly selected. It's so strange, it doesn't match the tone or feel of the story at all and I'm not feeling it. :/

You're right, this feels less like a Hunger Games CD and more like a mix CD made by a Hunger Games fan LOL. No wait, a FAN MIX would be better. It was curated by Lorde, which I think is part of the problem. It's her mix, not a mix for the fandom. Bleh. ah well.

At least they don't use the soundtrack in the movie? Hahaha. Yeah, I don't really like the artists they picked. >.<

It's a ploy for money, I'm sure. Hopefully it won't affect the quality of the movie.

It's just so disappointing because the other two were SO GOOD. I blame Lorde. She was apparently the producer.

I agree with you. :| I didn't even realize the soundtrack had been released, and then I started listening to a few of the songs briefly and I was like...eh?

I also thought there was a version of Jennifer singing The Hanging Tree, but maybe it's just not on this soundtrack? (I think there's usually a release of the instrumental soundtrack, too, right?) I'm curious to hear that.

Wonder if JLaw singing Hanging Tree will be a bonus mp3 like they did with "Deep in the Meadow" ?

Mm, maybe? I can't find it on iTunes at the moment, though. Hm.
