mockingjay part 1 - quick thoughts

We saw Mockingjay Part 1 today.

I'm not sure how to describe such an emotional roller coaster.

It was very well done. All the actors were amazing. Collins did a fantastic job of getting her story onto the big screen. I've read the books and I was still tensed up the entire time.

I'm not sure if I can say it was fun? because it's rough, it's harsh, it wants you to look at war and what it does to people and society and THINK about the world around us. And with things going on all over, it's scary.

I was very impressed.

These are all the thoughts I can form at the moment. More later once I've slept on it.

Have you heard about this yet? Personally, I think it's awesome. Empowering and awesome. Start a localized protest about your government and people elsewhere in the world will probably turn a blind eye; link your cause to a piece of pop culture iconography and the whole world knows about it.

I can't wait to see this, but yeah, I have to wait until it's a time I can have a good long blank slate of time afterward to think about it.

I thought it was way better than reviews made it seem. Of course there won't be a lot of action because the first half of the book didn't have that. However, the movie was so well done and well acted and as you said even though I read the book, I was still tensed up during the movie was well. I really liked the grey and gritty look of it, really fits the story.

Yeah, I was actually looking at the sets and the colors (Katniss' hair seemed more BLACK than brown) and they really went for this dark, gray world. Gray in color and morally gray.
