This turned into a very musical Saturday! This morning we saw Into the Woods (more on that in another post) and then in the evening we watched Galavant.

Those first two episodes were SO MUCH FUN! I'm almost sad that it's only on for 4 weeks but I'd rather have a high quality show that's done with a few episodes than drag it out.

Also, Timothy Omundson! I didn't even know he was in this and it was really the last piece of the puzzle to make me watch (and I also knew Sylvia would definitely watch with me since her first love will always be Psych). I'm so looking forward to Weird Al's appearance AND Anthony Stewart Head is apparently showing up at some point too! Heck, all of the casting has been fantastic in just the first two hours.

And after we watched that, Tim started Googling the show for more information and he stumbled upon this gem:

The Soundtrack to Your Childhood

...which quickly turned into a game of "Name That Tune Before He Starts Singing or the Text Appears". The only one I didn't know was "Newsies" since I completely missed that when it first came out and never went back to it and now I fear I may be too old to appreciate it.

Actually, I think I enjoyed Galavant more than I did Into the Woods, but that is probably because it was 100% new to me versus struggling with my inner fangirl the entire time I watched the movie...but, yes that is going to need it's own post!

If you have any tiny bit of geeky musical theater nerd in you, you will love it. :)

I haven't heard about Galavant before, but are you saying it's a musical tv show? What what what? That sounds awesome. I'm checking this out.

I haven't watched Into The Woods yet, but it's absolutely on my list of things to see :D

YES! Not just a musical TV show but a musical tv show with songs written by the ALAN MENKEN! One half of the team that pretty much saved Disney's ass in 1989 with Little Mermaid. But Galavant is very much Broadway - jokes for kids but lots of little wink, nods, and nudge-nudge bits for adults.

I mean, seriously, the opening song talks about how the adventure is "a real butt-clencher"

WARNING: The songs will get stuck in your head!!!

They do! I'm really considering getting the soundtrack once the show is over (looks like they are only putting the songs up after the episodes air...smart!)

Meant to type up ITW thoughts today but got distracted by Star Wars...so many thoughts...I really think the hardest thing to do is separate the movie from the stage version...I might have to break it down into two lists!

Now I reallly have to try Galavant! I saw the preview but then forgot about it. I'm glad it lives up to the promise of the preview, and I'm always up for silly musical fun! Also eager to see Weird Al in it!

DO IT! It's totally musical theater geek meets Monty Python with lyrics by a DISNEY GOD. SO, yeah...

I love love love Galavant! I adore Timothy Omundson and was so excited for him to be in this. The songs are fantastic, and I'm not sure I will ever get them out of my head. XD

LOL yes I totally recognized him immediately and I don't know why but it made me happy to see him in a new job LOL. Like "oh good, one of our own has made it!" haha.

...wait does that mean he won't be in Season 6??

I didn't realize it was ever meant to go beyond Season 1. We just finished the finale and I was sort of sad that they ended it with such a giant cliffhanger, so sure it would get another season. I hope ABC brings it back next time OUaT is on hiatus.
