icecoldrain asked: If you could go anywhere in the world in the past, present, or future, where would you go? Why?

This is a tough question! I think people tend to romantacize the past and I can't think of any historical events I might want to witness that probably wouldn't end up letting me down in the end (I always think of that scene in Timeline by Michael Crichton when the businessman is trying to charge people to travel back in time and see events and they show him Washington crossing the Delaware and, of course, he's not poised on the end of the boat like the famous painting, but hunkered down and keeping warm...anyway, I digress)

So if I had the ability to transport myself anywhere, I'd like to visit Australia or Japan right now. If I could travel back in time...maybe a fly on the wall during the filming of ESB or RotJ...maybe at ILM during Jurassic Park or something like that. Or maybe Henson studios during the hayday of The Muppet Show. They all seem like good people LOL.

lol, I hear you. I like the fashion of the past, but I wouldn't want to actually travel to the past. One of my friends and I are always laughing because we're like, we're women and we have allergies. We'd be as good as dead if we went back in time to live in the past. But I could see going back in time to visit places/etc. that don't exist today.

It'd be amazing if we had like idk an irl Floo Network where we threw some magic powder and announced our destination lol. We'd all be world travelers!

Oh man, I'm the same. I wouldn't want to actually return to the past either XD Maybe to visit places briefly, or to see what all those '70s bell bottom pants looked like in person, but that's it.

People do tend to romanticize the past, especially when nostalgia is involved when most have selective memories and choose to cherry-pick the better qualities of it. Though honestly, since I have such a curiosity and fascination with history I would actually like the concept of traveling back in time to certain eras and moments in history to see what actually happened versus what people choose to remember, twist and fabricate. I would even like to see events that haven't been recorded in history. Of course my version of this would be just a mere observer, as in my presence is basically a ghost looking at the shadows of what has already happened.

With specific recent that have happened in the most recent past, I think going to the premiere of Empire Strikes Back and seeing everyone's reactions. ;p

Assuming it could be done safely, I'd really like to go back and see the real thing -- real dinosaurs walking around, experience just how big they really were, see how the world was, all that.

I agree people romantacize the past, sometimes way too much.

At the moment, my biggest travel dream is Northern Norway during winter, polar nights, stars, and northern lights. Oh and good and warm clothing!

I've been in Australia, but would love to go back and see and experience more.
